Just an observation
I know there is a lot of discussion about weight distribution hitches and the balance needed for a safe tow. I live in Eastern Va and travel I 64 a lot. Just recently I have seen quite a few new rv's being delivered. Most by big rig diesels. I am assuming the RV's are being delivered to the dealers. I have yet to see them using a wd set up. They are just hooked to the ball hitch and the power cord for the lights and brakes. And they are usually hauling at a pretty good clip. They seem to tow alright and look to handle well. Are we over doing it ? I would not tow my Windjammer without a wd hitch. Maybe they just have more experience, I am sure they drop it at the dealer and head back o the factory to pick up another one . Any thoughts ??

I, too, have seen that. Some reasons may be that the trucks are 1-ton , 6- tired trucks that can handle the load considering the trailers are empty, no propane, battery, water, etc. Another reason, I suspect the main reason, is that those guys are in a hurry as they are paid by the unit. Maybe some RV delivery folks here will comment with more detail.

The manufaure doesn't install WD hitch from factory and a hauling company isn't going to take the time (or liability) to set one up to deliver to dealer, where it would have to be removed.

An F350 - 3500 duelly etc is a whole different animal than a 1/2 ton pickup. My duelly has a heavy 7 leaf spring pack and rated 4500 lb cargo cap. So tongue weight is not an issue. I have towed with a 1/2 ton for years but a duelly is solid towing and a 1/2 like your on skates trying not to fall over without a WDH

Yes. That's what I was getting at. The duelly platform prevents a lot of sway.

Just an observation
I don't think the dually prevents sway, but it would not affect the truck as much giving the operator an easier time braking the trailer, instead of having to fight with the truck at the same time.

Well, there's preventing sway, and then there's resisting sway.
The trailer doesn't know what type of truck it's being pulled with. But with 4 rear tires instead of 2, the dually has twice as much rubber resisting that side-to-side motion. And those tires are all HD truck tires, while a 1/2-ton is likely standard radials. And the HD suspension isn't going to lean like a half-ton.
All taken together, whatever forces the trailer is trying to exert, the truck has much better ability to resist.

I'm never thought about it. Is this how every single trailer is delivered to trailers all over the country? I would think they might use the rail system.

I doubt that any are shipped by rail. This is one reason a trailer can leave the factory in good shape and have issues once it gets to the dealer. Not saying delivery drivers are at fault, just that the RV may have had many miles on it since it was built.

I drive I-69 thru Flint MI. everyday which is the main route coming up from Elkhart. I see a lot of these RV haulers and most are running the speed limit of 70mph or more.
They don't seem to mind the 65 mph limit on the tires. Maybe that's why we have so many issues with the tires. They have been pre-abused for us. They are talking here in MI to raise the speed limit in areas to 80mph. I bet we will see a lot more RV's on the side of the road if they do. Just yesterday I saw 5 coming north all driving together in the fast lane passing everyone all pulling 30+ feet fivers

On occasion, I've seen a few very small travel trailers on flat bed trailers pulled by tractor rigs. Saw 3 little tts lined up on a trailer this week in East Texas. But usually one at a time towed by single driver.
