Just for clarification do you consider the tongue wt as part of the TT weight or separate, i.e. Tongue wt/tongue wt + trailer axle wt -or- tongue wt/trailer axle wt x100 to get %?

The trailer weight includes the tongue weight. A trailer with a tongue weight of 1000 and 2 axles weighing 7000 combined weighs 8000 lbs and has a 12.5 percent tongue weight. Many folks including myself feel that 12-13 percent is optimal.

Ok lbrjet, makes sense. It's additive then and tongue weight depends on cargo load but directly takes from trailer axle weight, it is beginning to become more clear. And yes, a new TT owner, naive in the ways of weights...
