I hooked mine to the camper the day I got it. The way I see it, semi trucks and farm tractors don't get a break in period. It's made to work, work it.

Same here. Just take our new tractors to the field put them to work. Do the same with our new pick-ups. Hook them to whatever day one. Haven't been an issue for me. Now I am using Fords?? You have a different animal there with that bow tie ?? Ha

Good luck with your new truck I'm sure it's just as good of a vehicle.

thinking of giving an oil change pretty soon just for my own peace of mind....???

Sorry I didn't answer the oil Change issue. We change our oil on these new trucks at 10,000 mile. The oils now days are much better than they were in years past.
