X2. The Ram with cloth interior was seriously ugly and uncomfortable compared to the Ford XLT cloth. But you step up to the leather interiors on the Ram and they are really nice- right now. But I, too, wonder what those leather covered dashes will look like in 10 years after having the sun beating straight down onto them, especially for folks like me in the South.

How much? Depends how much over...
There are a hundred other threads trying to justify being over gross.
I want ( need) to be under gross.
Even though I'm not " commercial"
I am considered as such, with my truck being over 10k gvwr.

Are you saying you are considered commercial in Canada because your truck is over 10K GVWR and you therefore must adhere to weight restrictions legally? If so, it seems you could have just bought a 2500 and not worried about being weighed???

Pretty much. It's a little looser.
I could, reg my truck at 9990, and not be commercial. But then, I would be over my gross of 9990.
Which I don't want.
The public insurance corporation just changed a bunch of rules for my instance. ( over 10k but not commercial)
I don't think, even they know what they are doing.
Rcmp tell me I have to go through scales.. Until in told otherwise ( maybe by dot) I shall do so.
This is new, since August.
I have not had a chance to pass by a scale with the trailer to see what they say.

It really doesn't matter the reasoning.
I want to be under my sticker.
If others choose otherwise.. That's up to them.

Yeah, but me (240), wife (no comment), 2 kids, 2 car seats, and dog plus side steps, cover, bed mat, blocking, and cooler only put me 700lbs north of the empty sticker. Hell, even with my campers WnP 30FBW I'm only 700 more than that scale says your truck weighs?

Maybe edit that first post, too.

I think common sense needs to take over at some point but non-existent Laws?

In the states this is correct. Kenny is in Canada. Perhaps it's different there eh?
Hey Kenny, I wonder if they let home state rules apply or do they make US RV's pull into weight stations? I've only towed up there once going to Nova Scotia but never saw a weight station.
Oh, and in MA where I am DRW must register commercial. It has nothing to do with GVWR. The law states that any vehicle with more than 4 tires on the ground must be registered commercial. It's a crazy law enacted to stop contractors from registering with passenger plates. Now they just by SRW trucks and do the same and RVers get punished with higher cost registrations, insurance, and annual inspections...

Usually, if you are legal in the state/province you are reg in, you are ok.
The only place I have heard different is British Columbia, and double towing. They will turn you around.

I would like too, but the site team has disabled the edit functions.
Maybe the mods could change the thread tittle.

I get that. Just found it slightly odd that I could be WAY over with a 2500 but it wouldn't matter, but if I have a 3500 they weigh me and make sure I'm under.

So according to this Kenny https://www.mpi.mb.ca/en/PDFs/TrailerSafety.pdf you need a commercial licence to tow a trailer over 10000 lbs in Manitoba. That is a lot lower than most places. Don't want to get off topic but it shows that Manitoba is a lot stricter than other places on weights.

This.
The scale I used is for grain hauler trailers.
I will try to hit a cat scale next time I am in the city.

Yup.
Class 3 license. Which includes tandem trucks and trailers over 10k.
Trucks over 10k need commercial safety inspections yearly.
Included my last ram 2500.

I just looked at Ontario and it is the same 10,410 lbs. I wonder how many people with the large 5th wheels know they are not legal. I bet the dealers don't tell people this when they buy them.
