The Dodge dealers I have talked to here make no discounts from the invoice, you pay that or someone else will.

Surly attitude is a must for the sales staff.

In sept of '13, I bought a '13 GMC 3500 leftover and got close to $17k off sticker, with incentives and rebates. There are deals to be made at the close out of a model year, regardless of make.

Most dealers have to start paying floor plan after a car or truck has been on their lot for 60 days. That can add up quick.
Have fun shopping.

In my case yes, Ford was more than willing to sell me what I wanted at a far better price and the salesman and manager were way better to talk to and deal with.

I really did want a Chevy but I was told I could not have it my way, not a good way to earn my monies...

No but when it was over I did have a blue oval on the grill and a hat from the salesman I worked with, plus the fuel tank was full.

Do not know if they still do but I got $500 off a Dodge / Ram after the deal for being a Farm Bureau member.

Ah, now you told me......

Did the 250 thru a credit union for less interest than the bank, same for the lite.

PU has just over 40k on it right now so a new truck is kind of out right now.

I hear that, the wind is crazy today. We have blizzard and ice warnings in one part of the state and tornado watches and warnings in the other part. Oklahoma weather is insane!

Just like all the other rebates. Comes off the msrp or invoice price. Dealer gets the rebates. Just show the membership card and they will make a copy for your paperwork file.

Say your truck has a $45,000 msrp, the invoice maybe something like $41,250. Then you take a $500 farm bureau rebate, $750 credit union member rebate, $500 military rebate and a $2,000 manuf rebate and you then end up with the final price at $37,500 plus doc fees, title fees and or extended warranty or aditional equipment. You can then pay that $37,500 any way you want. Cash, bank draft, check, finance thru dealer....it doesn't mater unless there is a rebate that is tied to a lender or 0% instead of a rebate.

(These are all fictional prices and rebates except for the Farm Bureau one. But these are available rebates for some manufacturers at some times)

Why not just give 'the good guy deal' up front?

They can all do whatever they want. The can take those rebate amounts off of whatever price they want. But unless you qualify for the rebates the manufacturer cant or wont give them to the dealers. Other than holdbacks and advertising incentives the invoice is what the dealer pays for the vehicle. There are additional rebates sometimes applied to certain vehicles to move them.

When i was looking for my 3500 Gmc, the dealer i was working with had one of those trucks that had an additional rebate to move it and it made it about $2k less than the others that were identical other than the vin. Needless to say those trucks move really fast!

Bottom line the dealer can give you a "good guy deal" but you will be able to do better if you can get as many of the rebates as possible at that time. They usually won't sell a vehicle at a loss but they will have a little bit of room from hold backs and advertising, that's how they can dealer trade or throw in window tint.

I bought a 2015 Ram 2500 ctd 4x4 crew cab with the fifth wheel prep Lone Star package at the end of Oct. The window sticker was $59,900 after rebates and a few "Well I think I can do better elsewhere " I walked out at $51,500. They also gave me $20,500 for my 2012 Ram ctd with 142,000 miles 2wheel drive. It was a crew cab ST. I put a lot of miles on a truck so it will hurt me when I trade so the truck already being a model year old even though it was new had 12 miles on it helps me when it's time to trade this one in.
