Leaky Rims on f-350 dually
My sons 2017 f 350 has consistently been leaking around the valve stem. Its been back to the dealer 3 times for this, at one point they were losing almost 20 lbs a day. Its a dually, so its only loosing air on the Aluminum rims, so the front, and left and right outer rears.. the inner steel wheels do not leak.. Anyone have this issue? he is pipeline welder and his truck is his lifeline, So any time its in the shop its costly!

Can/ is he using all metal valve stems? Sometimes that makes a difference as to what type/manufacturer.

Well the dealer has repaired it 3 times now, presumably with original equipment, so that keeps failing and leaking..So Metal Valve stems? I think he has those on there already from the factory, Il check..

Go to Google. Enter valve stems for aluminum wheels . You will see lots of products made for this specific problem.

He has still stems, but the rings are what leak he says.. So possibly after market wheels.

See this forum, including the part about replacing defective wheels (too big a hole for the valve stem) under warranty. Perhaps the local dealer can't be bothered to read the service bulletins.

We had a similar problem a few years back on an F350. It out to not be the stems at all but tiny cracks in the aluminium rims themselves. Dealer didn't seem to want to admit it so I went to a Tire store and they fixed me up with new ones supplied by Ford under warranty.

Just wanted too follow top, because I hate when folks ask for advice and then never follow up with a course of action.. At Any rate, based on the thread that was posted above this seems like pretty wide spread problem, based on the al. rims corroding around the metal stems.. Some got the wheels replaced under warranty, some had a part number for a new rubber stem.. he is going back to that dealer with that info and see where it goes.
It in mud a lot going to drill sites, and its also on salt covered roads in the winter (WV) so corrosion is probably the issue, Thanks again for the help/
