leased TV ?

Does anybody lease a pickup specifcally for use as a TV ? Are there limitations other than yearly total miles?

No I do not think you would want to lease a TV. My truck is set up for towing and I would not want to spend close to 4K on a lease vehicle to set up it up for towing.
My attachments are: A Smarty S67 programmer, MBRP 5" exhaust, Mag-Hytec front and rear Al differential covers, a Mag Hytec trans AL deep dish oil pan, Boost , EGT, and transmission temps gauges, wireless air bag controller and bags, larger tires and wheels that support 3700 pounds, slider hitch, Rand McNally GPS, and an additional 2 Micron fuel filter.

I did considered leasing a TV and was concerned about being responsible for repairing any damages. In my case the truck was ready to tow. After comparing numbers it turned out it the monthly payments were almost the same price to buy the truck as it would be to lease it. The difference in rebates for purchase vs leasing was enough to put me in the black with buying while I would still be in the red if I leased it.


In my case I opted to buy it which worked out well since the front bumper took a hit to a short pole I didn't see (twice).

I would be wary of the "excess wear" clause in most leases. It can be a trap with a car, but they could really stick it to you on a truck that is used in HD applications.

I have never leased a vehicle because the terms really don't fit my lifestyle.

That said if you like to have a new truck every couple years, can keep it under the milage, in decent shape and the lease terms do not explicitly prevent using it as a tow vehicle I would say go for it!

I think there are advantages including free maintenance the first few years of ownership and getting the newest vehicles every few years.

Good input. In my case our truck is setup just the way I want it and its not rusty,Im just a little concerned about the mileage on it (200000). Not the motor,but more specifically the trans and running gear,especially since I plow our snow with it too. I guess the best idea is just to put $5k in a "transmission fund" so when it happens we are ready.No way can I justify $60000 for a new truck!

There is no reason you can't tow with a leased vehicle. In our case we have had 2 f150's that where leased. We had a 31ft bumper pull so we did not need to mount a fifth wheel. I did have to mount a brake controller but they had no issue with a few screw holes below the dash. This was before you could get a factory brake controller. They have no issue if you use the truck within it designed capacity. Just bring back the truck within the allowed mileage with no damage and good tires that meet safety. The other option is to buy out the truck at the end of the lease and then there are no worries about excessive milage etc.

If you own your own business you might want to look into lease for taxes. Being able to write off the full lease payment on pre-taxed earnings with out adding the value of the truck to your business assets sometimes make sense and sometimes doesn't.

Absolutely for business reasons, my work truck is leased for the tax reasons and it pulls a 7x14 forest river cargo trailer.
Our daily driver / TV we bought outright as leasing it made no sense tax wise. Both are 2013 f150 Eco.

Never looked into leasing a vehicle. Is it safe to assume that adding 5th wheel hitch rails would be forbidden by the lease terms?


It has to come back exactly as it was delivered, no addons?

definitely can't mount a 5th wheel hitch. Probably not anything else that would require drilling either. Part of having a truck is customizing it for your use and liking. No way I would lease

Could you not lease one with the 5th wheel prep package?? (I don't have one, so not sure what the package includes.). Also, I wouldn't worry about drilling. I know folks that install antennas drilled through the roof on leased vehicles and have no problems.
