I just installed Supernova PerfectFIT LED bulbs for my 2015 F-150. I am extremely pleased with the result though it took me about 1.5 hours to install them.

The entire LED housing and chassis is made of very high quality aluminum, does not use a fan for cooling and has a 2 year warranty. They fit perfectly and do not need a new or modified dust cap. My F-150 needed the included polarity switch cables to be attached.

On the 2015 F-150, I had to remove about 15-18 fasteners for each headlamp unit to be removed and, with care and caution, that took a bit of time; headlamp 1 = about 45 minutes, headlamp 2 = about 20 minutes. Reassembly took about 20-25 minutes.

On the evening prior to the install, I taped-out the old halogen beam pattern on my garage door to allow me to see how well the alignment was maintained after the new bulbs were installed. The post install alignment came out very close to the original pattern. The only adjustment needed was a very slight lowering of the left lamp. The final check was a nighttime in-town and country road jaunt during which time no one flashed their lights at me.

The Supernova PerfectFITs have a great beam and pattern with a 6000ºK light. They addressed all my complaints with the factory halogen headlamps! Of course, they aren't cheap, but I do feel much safer at night.

I installed LED head and fog lights in Jan of this year. Yes,they do make a difference and a real improvement for night time driving.

A word of caution for Dodge/Ram truck owners you need to buy lighting kits that are compatible with the CAN-Bus wiring system on your trucks.

A shop installed my LED headlights, anything above changing the oil is above my pay grade. I can’t even change the fuel filter

Are they DOT approved? Very few are because they produce excess scatter. Let us know how many people flash their brights at you.

No, they are not DOT approved. However, there is surprisingly little light scatter as revealed by my garage door testing. Of course, there is more scatter than the factory xenon HIDs in my other vehicles. Evidently, all my research into quality and bean patterns was not in vain.

Since the installation and after driving the last few days during the nighttime, zero folks have flashed their brights at me. And, as you know, proper aiming is necessary. I am convinced that many truck “modders” lift their vehicles, install LEDs and never re-aim their headlamps!!!

I’ll be on the lookout for headlight flashing, though.

Be careful when changing to non-DOT “approved” lights, especially if you live in a state (like Virgina) with annual inspections. My inspector failed my truck with F150LEDs because they weren’t DOT certified. Fortunately for me, they took the lights back, and I passed inspection with conventional bulbs.

Where I get my truck inspected the guy just turns them on and flash them at a wall. The last time the truck was inspected the people didn’t even turn the lights on. It really doesn’t matter because when you leave the inspection place you could lose a light. Besides the last two inspections no one asked about the emissions. They don’t do a smog test but it looks like they would have noticed a bunch of stuff was missing. But no the LED lights I installed were not DOT approved or had them installed.

I wish people wouldn't use them. Too bright. Those lights are no different to having the brights on. They should be toned down or illegal.

Cars and trucks are being manufactured and shipped to dealers from the auto industry with LED's lights. If you install the LED lights correctly and clock them per the instructions, they should preformed just like the factory supplied LED's on the newer vehicles.

They are done completely different than these aftermarket bulb replacements. They are built as a sealed housing with the LEDs placed differently relative to the reflectors.

If done correctly they are not too bright or give off glare. Unfortunately most people buy the cheapest drop-in kit without researching and the result is what you (and I) complain about. I ran aftermarket HID's in my factory halogen projector headlight housing until the ballasts started to die. My new Morimoto ballasts just showed up yesterday at lunch. No glare, nice cutoff and properly aimed and I went with 5000k colour so they pretty much match the colour on our VW factory HID headlights, not a ridiculous looking blue.

I have auto dimming headlights and they're terrible. Way too sensitive. On the inaugural drive home with the new truck even a red light on a tower in the middle of a field would turn off the high beams. No other vehicles around. Thankfully they can be disabled.

Sorry, but, I am referring to new vehicles that have these factory installed. Although, I can see what you are referring to.

Gotcha. Factory HIDs I don't mind, as for LEDs, Ford I don't mind but GM trucks seem to have them aimed too high from factory.

Gotcha. Factory HIDs I don't mind as most, if not all, are auto levelling, as for LEDs, Ford I don't mind but GM trucks seem to have them aimed too high from factory.

I am gonna guess that you are above a certain age. As I get older, I find myself more bothered by oncoming headlights, LED, HID or otherwise. I think the eyes cannot respond as fast as they used to. I have had to teach myself not to fall into the trap of looking at them to see if the oncoming driver is really on his high beams. I generally look at the line on the side of the road till they pass.

Now... that kid I see every morning with the 48inch LED offroad light bar on the top of his POS F150 that runs with it on ALL THE TIME.... Every time I see him I wish that his truck suffers an electrical fire.

It seems like if I just turn the dim on the lights are not to bright but with the park lights on it just seems like they are a lot brighter on dim.
