Can you give some details on who, cost, etc. Can they do it to a 1500 LTZ AWD Burb?

Thanks! I am pretty happy. It's gonna take some getting used to ... coming from a 1500 Hemi.

Baldy,
Since you said it is an LTZ I am assuming it is an 07 and up. The guy that did mine is not doing that model yet. The go to guy in the country for the newer model is Duraburb out of central florida. You can find videos on you tube. The guy that runs the shop is Eric. You can find posts on his builds at the Dieselplace forum under the Frankenstein section. His call name is TDIGuy. He is doing 1500 models but I think it is still better to start with a 2500.

I can tell you that my truck is night and day from the 6.0 gas to 6.6 Diesel. I already owned the Suburban so it was a good cost effective solution for me.

Well, here's our rig!! What do ya'll think?? Day 16 of our 17 day camping trip in July. 3rd time to a Ford dealer in 2 days.

Day 15, 1st trip to the dealer: Complained about loud intermittent squeak in engine bay. Get new serpentine belt installed along with new idler pulley and tensioner. Okay, truck IS 12 years old and due for this.

Day 16, 2nd trip into same dealer next day: Went back since intermittent squeak still there. Get new water pump installed. Okay, truck is 12 years old and probably due for a new pump.

Day 16 after driving a few hundred miles to next campground: Get into truck to go into local town. Pull out onto main road and oil gauge suddenly reads ZERO oil pressure. Pay over $6 for quart of oil at country store next to cg. Still zero pressure. Get towed into nearby Ford dealer where they install new oil sending unit and claim problem is fixed. But is it?

Day 17: About 20 miles from home, oil pressure gauge starts to act up and constantly flips between normal and zero pressure. This time I knew the pressure was okay and kept driving.

Several days later, get truck into our local Ford dealer. Turns out the first Ford dealer pinched a wire behind the power steering pump which caused the faulty reading. 'Course, hundreds of miles away from the first dealer who caused the damage and also from the second one who installed an unnecessary sender, and being in another country, what can we do? Total repair costs in excess of $1K.

So there you have the scoop on our tow rig!! Our truck has been almost repair free for the 10 years we've owned it but the little V6 just wasn't happy towing a 5,000 lb TT nearly 2,000 miles all over the place. So now we're planning to upgrade to a 3/4 ton with a V8.

NICE RIDE!!!
That flatbed looks good underneath your truck.
(lol) Sorry to hear about your trouble, but I'd say you must have a pretty good truck to be 12 years old and still pulling. The $1K repair price is definitely less than the cost of a new rig.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on. It's an 06 Burb. Same body style as yours.
