I made a canoe rack similar to yours and it worked great. My daughter would would duck her head if someone looked at us......she called it the "wooden contraption"

Wow how well does your tundra pull that beast. I have a toy hauler much smaller and my tundra does great. Wondering how well it handles that bigger camper.

98 k2500 turbo diesel.

Put a brand new Optimizer 6500 into it 2 years ago, new turbo, 4" exhaust, water meth injection, intercooler and I custom tune my own PCM's with tunercat II. Dropped in a raptor 100 lift pump and 1/2 feed line from tank to engine. Slipped in fuel pressure, egt, and boost pressure gauges to keep an eye on things. Its also got the standard upgrade stuff 6.5's get like the newest style waterpump, 9 blade cooling fan, 2.5" crossover pipe, Bosch duraterm glow plugs, new bosch injectors, new oil cooler with braided lines, heath diesel pmd kit, etc, etc....

It goes without saying it runs synthetic everywhere and is on a regular maint program.

Needing more storage for small loose day to day items and increased "doggie comfort"; we've got three and they're pretty big:

tossed on a bed cap and built an insert for the bed:

Since finished doors, with black carpeting and 1/2" foam floor matting.

With the dogs comfy, time for the people.

Inside, custom center console with cobra 29 lxbt, inverter ( so the missus can plug in whatever she wants to keep her happy!), tft touchscreen, carputer (mostly runs obdii monitoring software for transmission and fuel temp monitoring but it's xp on a full computer) and backup camera:

Didn't want to see my brake controller hanging below the dash so i sunk it in the bezel:

And remote mounted a manual lever by cable:

Threw in some Firestone ride rite bags for when i've got the bed loaded up to keep it level. The trailer has a husky centerline wd hitch that is properly set up (did it myself). Bags would be the wrong way to level it but they're not required with the hitch, they're just for bed cargo loads .

Con't below

Con't:

Rear Seat was removed for a custom dog platform/sub woofer/amp rack combo i built:

Ive also added some wood touches inside a la escalade and a few leather bits like black deer skin inserts. Tossed in a heated CTS-V steering wheel for added winter comfort:

Next is paint and a full custom leather interior:

Lots of other stuff done to it, but this post is already long enough i think!

Its solid, reliable (after a lot of work and money that is!) and has literally towed our trailer from the pacific to the Atlantic (Vancouver island to Newfoundland):

while netting 13-15 mpg with trailer in tow.

Best Ive been able to pull out of it on the dyno is 271.9 hp @ 3200 rpm / 446.3 tq @ 1900 rpm and a 9.7 sec 0-60 time. It's no fireball, but it's essentially brand new except for frame and body and just sneaking into stock lb7 Duramax territory for under 17 grand total investment.

Not too shabby says I!
