Leveling out between fifth wheel hitch rails

Hi y'all! new to posting, old on reading all of your great tips. I have a question regarding the fifth wheel hitch rails mounted in the truck bed. What have you done to fill the gap between the two rails in order to make the truck bed flat and useable. I have thought of a single piece of 3/4 plywood, but there would be a weak spot by the wheel wells and the notches in the wood for the rails. have you used two separate pieces of wood, or is there another solution. Thanks.

We don't take the 5th hitch out of the truck bed. Just stack stuff around it and use a utility trailer to haul the sheet goods. If you install a single piece of plywood, be sure to secure it properly as the negative air pressure at highway speed will surely remove it and leave it in someone's windshield.

Honestly the rails don't inhibit our bed use at all. Don't know what rails you have, but ours are smooth and low profile (no bolt heads sticking up). We do carry some moving blankets to put down if we are moving large items. If hauling sand/gravel we will put a tarp down to aide in easy cleanup. I would think trying to 'level' your bed would be more of a pita than dealing with the rails. True, it can difficult to slide in long, heavy items, but we just jump in the bed and lift over rails.
