Lift kit for Torflex?

I posted this elsewhere and got no response...

My TT rides too low. It always has and this is not the result of damage. It's on Dexter Torflex 3500# axles. According to the tag they're #6 axles. I have been on Dexter's website and they seem to have these for #9 and #12 axles. I'd really like to stop dragging mine and so I need to lift it 3"... Anybody know which kit I need? Their instructions are pretty self-explanatory, so I'm not putting it off any longer. Unfortunately the website is a not real friendly as to an old computer unliterate curmudgeon's being able to figure this out.

Did a little research, and I think your 3500 LB axles are #10, which covers axles from 2300lb-4000lb.

Call or email dexter with the numbers from the decals on your axle, they have exceptional support. The issue you can run into sometimes is they make runs of OEM specific axles for weight ratings. As an example my 2017 Roo has two #3000 Torflex axles per all the decals but in reality they are most likely exactly the same as the #3500's.

Great to know as this is a high priority mod for us too. Where on the axle is the decal located?

Also - are Torflex and Al-Ko the same thing? I do know that Dexter owns Al-Ko now...

I Have Dexter lift kits on my axles Bolt On. Installed at Goshen.

Usually located right on the front of the axle tube. If its gone from use there is a stamped number on the tube, usually in the center and may be a little hard to find.

Not sure how they changed stuff around when they absorbed Kober.


Those lift kits are also dependent on how the axles were mounted and Dexter can help you determine that. When you get right down to it if you are or know someone handy with steel and a welder, making a lift for torsions is really easy no matter how they are mounted. Typically it involves only a piece of tube and some plate and being able to measure.

I have a Windjammer with 4000 pound axles. When they built it the factory installed axles with the wrong mounting brackets so it rode low and actually rubbed the fender well. They replaced them with axles with a taller mounting bracket and a 2 inch square spacer. I now have 3.5 to 4 inches of clearance. Dexter recommended to me to have a minimum of 3 inches of clearance to allow for flexing.

Thanks, all... The axle number, if read with the rest of the print says #6. I've emailed Dexter twice and have no response, yet.

Like B&B, I have a lift kit that was installed at Goshen by techs at last years rally. You can find one for yours on eTrailer.com. Two sizes, 2 3/8 " and 3 1/4 " IIRC. Bolts on.

I love the ride of the dexter axles but have an issue. Only have 1" clearance. Called dexter. They said I have only 1 braking axle and they are a 22 degree down 4000#. They gave me the name of a dexter dealer. They info dexter gave me is not correct. Both my axles are braking (all 4 wheels have brakes and wires going to them). Got to the dealer and he said my axles are 10 degree down but are at their limit. They suggest going with 5200# axles with a lift kit but keeping the 10 degree down. Dexter said I should go with the 32 degree down which would raise the unit 1 1/4" or the 45 degree down that would be a 1 7/8" rise. But they think my axles are 22 degree and only 1 braking. Do they really know what they are talking about? Dexter has tried to be helpful which I am thankful for but someone has incorrect info. Guess I will have to figure it out myself

I don't know for a fact but I think many newer trailers are higher angle to provide more clearance. When I see many new trailers they all look like a steeper angle.

I need more lift and I am not sure whether a riser kit or a higher degree down is better.

Note that the lift kit at E Trailer for the number 10 axle states " do not use on axles with a 3 inch bracket". My axles have a 3 inch bracket and I suspect it's the reason I was told not to use a Dexter lift kit. I suspect maybe side load issues.

Well, eTrailer got back to me and said Dexter doesn't make #6 axles... My picture here says different... What's up with this?

It appears you have a 10 H axle

The #6 is probably a build or line code. The 10H (#10) is your axle as I stated earlier. 10 is the axle size H is the designation within the #10 size.

Your axles are a 10 degree down (on the label). Dexter makes 10, 22, 32 and 45 degree down for their axles. With my dexter axles at 22 down they said if I go to a 45 degree down it will add 1 7/8" height. Because my axles are right at their weight limit I am going with a heavier axle too. You may also find that if your current axles are at their limit they may be "bottomed out" like mine are. If that is the case you may get almost 3" going with a heavier axle (that does't bottom out) and from 10 to 45 degree. I talked to dexter and they were very helpful.
