A Chevy Captiva is a twin to the Saturn Vue.

Take a look at a Honda HR-V. Base model with manual trans has key start not push button. After turning off the key the steering remains unlocked with power off to everything. The steering locks only when the key is removed. We tow it with the key in the ignition switch and lock it with another key we keep in the Berk.

Ford C-Max

This is my 3rd toad; Jeep Grand Cherokee, then Honda CRV, now 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. Love it with over 41 mpg when driving the toad, great electronics, EZ hook up with tranny in neutral, key off so battery doesn't run down although Ford says key on accessory mode. No problems as I have a Readybrute Elite tow bar system with built in braking system.

Toughest toad I have ever pulled was a Chevvy Tracker.

Cheap, REAL (not crossover phony)SUV, and only 2800 pounds, which means you don't have to mess with aux braking. (and it holds a decent size boat on top)

Direct, mechanical transfer case

Easy to wire the TV lights through.....can pull its own weight if need be.

....and, did I say: "tough" ?

Try this

I just upgraded to a class C and am looking for a Toad. I found this web site to be very helpful: Downloadable Dinghy Guides | MotorHome Magazine. I need an automatic, flat tow with AWD. Currently shopping for a 2012 to 2014 Honda CRV.

Look for a Chevy Captiva at: CarGurus.co I've been towing one with no problems and putting a Roadmaster Base plate on it is a snap for anyone with a little mechanical knowledge. About same size as a Honda CRV and will be less expensive.
