We made the change from a 150 to 250 diesel and it literally changed our towing experience from white knuckle to don't even know it's back there and better mileage. Loving life.

Wow that's a beauty! I just upgraded my 2008 Silverado crew cab 5.3 gas to a 2009 Chevrolet duramax/Allison 2500 hd ext cab! It has 114000 miles and it drives and shifts awesome I can't believe the difference. My surveyor 243rbs is about 6000 loaded can't even feel it back there. I am truly amazed .

That's about where we are - 6500 loaded. I really can't wait to hook it up and see what it's like.

My son used it to haul trailers for the first 70K but we haven't let the grass grow under it since. I'd rather drive it than the inherited 06 Taurus. Can't get in and out of it.

I love it! I just upgraded as well, went from a 2012 Ram 2500 Diesel to a 2015 Gmc 3500 Diesel. Increased my MPG and loving the Allison! Congrats! You will love it.

I'm a mopar man, but when I am ready for my diesel if GM is still making trucks that look that good, might be time for a switch!

Nice looking truck! Congrats! My cousin just purchased a fully loaded High Country 1500 with a similar exterior appearance. I'm a Ford guy all the way but the newer body style is very sharp. I still prefer the Ford powetrain and interior however.

That is a beauty of a truck. You will notice a big difference towing with a diesel over a gas powered engine.

I am interested if you know what the difference was between the 2500 vs 3500 at the same price but payload difference of 1500 lbs. What was added to make such a difference?

The difference is in the frame and suspension, yes it seems strange, the same engine, and basically the same truck, but an increase in load capacity it's all in the frame and suspension.

Agree with Gunny7041. It's easy to see the difference in the rear suspension as the 3500 has overload springs. Otherwise the two have the same stance -
height, width, length, as well as the same engine and trans.

Did the frame look different between the 2 trucks too? or just the overload springs?

I didn't look close at differences in the frames so can't really say. I would assume they are pretty close.

Well she's a beauty. I love my 2016 Duramax, I'm one of those that will never go back to gas after towing with a diesel.

The extra leaf is the only difference.

The mandatory 10,000 GVWR that they stick on 3/4 ton trucks.

And the tires and the extra spring in the rear.
