Magnetic towing lights.

If anyone with experience could let me know if they have ever had any issues with scratching, wires whipping against the paint in the wind? Advice or solutions if so? I'm considering using a 3M clear auto protection Film under the magnets.....don't know if the wires could be an issue or cause damage to the paint?

a long, long time ago I used something similar to these when I towed my Z-car on a flat bed trailer. no scratches - I glued felt on the backs that touched the paint.

Used them on a trip to Colorado.

Be careful and secure the wires so they don't lay "free" on your paint. I learned the hard way. They will whip in the wind. Didn't scratch the paint, but they marred/dulled the clear coat. I had to do and extensive/careful "buff" job to get the dulling effect of the wires rubbing the clear coat finish.

I have a Jeep. After learning the hard way, I ran the wires through the back hatch, out the front passenger door and into/under the hood to the back of the motorhome. It took more wire than what the lights came with.

I had to use the lights due to a diode problem on the Jeep wiring I encountered on the trip. Wire your toad if possible. It's much better.

Thats what I'm affraid of. I think I'm going to buy a 20 foot 4-way cable and run a permanent wire from front to rear on the underneath of our TOAD. Then I can lift the tailgate and let the wires run inside and over the rear bumper to avoid and whipping. I don't feel comfortable splicing into a new vehicle wiring. Thanks.

I made sire that my wires were taught. After I ran them over the top of the toad I double wrapped them around the windshield wiper arm and then to the connector. I have had no problems with whipping, marring or dulling paint. I just make sure they are taught between the lights and the wipers. I also added two strip LED lights to the uppper outside corners of the MH to get tailgaters attention. I just drilled a hole at the top corners of the MH, dropped wires down to the taillights and joined them with brake and turn signals. Work great and at night they are BRIGHT.
