I was thinking the laws might be going the other way. Meaning the DEF laws/rules might be changing. Could be wrong though.

From the forum rules:

Trolling and cyberstalking are NOT allowed and are grounds for account restriction or banishment. Trolling on this board includes posting controversial and often irrelevant or off-topic messages with the intention of (or anticipated result of) baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal, harmonious on-topic discussion, especially when a pattern of such posting is apparent.

There's plenty of popcorn reading in the comments on that web page! No need to start it here, too.

I could see dropping the Eco Diesel line. If you're going to pay 50K for a 3L diesel in a 1500, might as well get the 6.7L in the 2500.....and I'm sure that's exactly what the bean counters at FCA are seeing.

Based on that, it would only affect the EcoDiesel vehicles in the US; Ram 1500 and Grand Cherokee. No impact for the Cummins-powered trucks.

I think the EPA under Trump might drop some diesel emissions standards. Just let each state what can be sold in each state. I think the EPA has went to far with diesel emissions standards.

Relax everyone. It’s only diesel cars in Europe that FCA is dropping. Won’t affect any product they sell in USA.

Just talk or rumors we will see...... I remember back when the Ford Probe was supposed to be the new Mustang.

Really can not see that at all, more on more vehicles are trying to go diesel. But I do remember the diesel Ford Ranger. Just can't see a non diesel HD RAM.

Me or you read it wrong. I think the article said they were keeping the diesel cars in Europe and the commercial trucks in America. I think FCA wants to merge with GM. I think Fiat wants out of Chrysler’s and you can’t really blame them

Does not make me worry at all. But if FCA wants to commit public suicide by eliminating diesels, I'll be more than happy to watch the death throes.

Chrysler is Fiat's cash cow, without them Fiat would be losing money hand over fist. This has been the case for a number of years now, FCA US's profits are covering FCA Europe's losses.

Here's a recent article continuing to confirm this is still going on.

There are no plans to discontinue Chevy diesels so I'm not worried.

This issue was also on the "Turbo Diesel Register.com" web site. The conclusion there is this will effect the Ram 1500 Eco Diesel truck and the Jeeps that use the 3.0L diesel engine. But this would not affect the Ram 2500/3500/4500 and 5500HD truck with the Cummins engine in them.

I think that if Chrysler would get rid of the Cummins engines then GM would merge with FCA.

That would be corporate suicide to get rid of the Cummins, so...

Diesel powered cars and trucks in Europe are being phased out as electric vehicles are becoming mainstream. Has nothing to do with diesel vehicles FCA sells in North America.

Just more evidence why it's better to wait and make sure the story is correct than to rush to "print" and hope you got the details right.
