Both ways of computing work fine and I appreciate all you guys. I saw that oldcoot had reversed the starting point but just getting the formula for the calculation was what I was after.
Now, one more question: do you measure from the nearest axle or midway between the axles? At first I went midway between but now I'm thinking that was probably wrong.

The reason I reversed it is that I didn't read your post correctly. I originally had the load 60" from the axles and it should have been 60" from the coupler like Crockett pointed out.

IMO, you should use the centerline between the axles regardless of whether you have a spring suspension with a walking beam or torsion axles.
