MH and boats.

So, we went camping this weekend to my parents cottage driveway.

Long story short, came back with a boat.
Do people launch their boat with a MH? Just wondering how well it works?

I've seen it done at the boat ramp a few times. Always comical to watch. But I can tell you without a doubt, it can be done.

we see it all the time at our lake. Only problem I see is having to break camp every time you want to pull the boat out or put it in. I have offered to use my truck to pull someones boat out to avoid that. Some places it's easy to leave the boat in the water for the duration but not always.

I think maybe walking around with a $20 might help me find a willing soul to help!

Guy I knew had a class "c" put a ball on the front bumper so he could watch the boat go into the water. Made sense instead of backing down the ramp blind. Class A maybe not!

I have a Georgetown 351ds and a StarCraft 1710 18foot runabout. I launch mine all the time.. When lined up straight I can't see the boat or trailer in the mirrors. I have to angle it or turn the wheel a little to see the boat while backing. I drive a tractor trailer for a living so it's really not a big deal to me.

If the ramp is steep enough, you can launch without submerging the rear end of the camper, but then you have a hell of a climb-out when you retrieve it.

If the ramp is shallow enough that you have no problems climbing out, then you are probably gonna have the back end of the MH in the water.

The ramp at my lake is so shallow, that I have to have all 4 tires of my truck in the water to get the boat floating off the trailer. I'm talking front tires about 10' into the water. I have an Excursion with an 8" lift and 37" tires and I routinely submerge the exhaust pipe when retrieving the boat. I can only imagine a MH would be about 2 feet deep in the bedroom at that point.

It looks like a no-win to me.

Met a guy last year with a class A MH that had a 2" receiver on the front. Carried bikes on the road, then would swap ends and push the boat in.

A local fella has been towing a Bass boat with his class C to local tournaments for the last 20 years or so. A lot of folks will rib him about it but he is the one with a cold or hot beverage and dry clothes on those rainy days! Go for it and have fun
