you are trying to convince yourself if it's worth making the switch to diesel. I went through this 2 years ago and made the switch. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier. Have had a few combinations of gas trucks and bumper pull trailers. 7-9 was always the towing MPG and 11-13 was non towing MPG. Now with diesel and a 36ft 5th wheel, 10-12 is towing MPG and 16-22 is non towing MPG.

Maybe he meant miles per liters?

that would be really impressive, to go that many miles on just over 1 qt of fuel

I don't tow a 5er, and they generally get a little bit better mileage than the same size TT. 8 with my 36' WnP at ~12,500lbs.

However, my 6.4 Ram didn't get the message about empty MPG...

Nope.
Just fishing for experiences from others.

Before my V10 was a 14 ram 2500 CUMMINS.

Just yesterday, I traded the Ford, and the wife's Lexus...
For a 15 3500 CCSB slt CUMMINS..

It was a three hour drive each way to the dealer.
Down in the Ford, 24L 100/km.
Home in the ram, 14l 100km.

Done deal.
When the 160km warranty is up, they can have it back and I'll take a new one again.
Won't be towing till spring, but am excited.

05 RAM Cummins duelly 36' trailer usually weighs around 13800 but weight varies 11-12 MPG and empty 16-20 depending............. No flat land here......... except going to beach

Our 03 gas Hemi towing a 25 ft 8000 lb trailer got 7-8 towing and 13-14 empty.

The 1992 F250 7.3 non turbo towing a 4500 lb trailer got 13mpg and 16 empty but that was 1992 technology and no turbo..... And the transmission would not stay in it more than 30,000 miles The 1986 6.9 F250 diesel got about the same mileage.
