my hookup

here is my connection from a few weeks ago on a short trip. I'm running on the second link in. The ride is ok, but at times she's a little bouncey.
Now, we're heading down to Myrtle beach in 2 weeks and it's my longest trip with the TT since we bought it last year. Is there anything I should do different, ie: go in on another link, etc. What do other's connections look like? My TV is a Silverado 1500 ext cab, TT: 27' Shasta Revere

Both overcenter brackets for the torsion bar springs need to be slide forward so the chains are vertical and not on an angle. No sway control. You didn't say when it gets bouncy. Others may spot other problems.

He has a single sway control, last pic shows it installed. I agree that the chains should be straight up and down. How do you measurements look?

My mistake, second look reveals it. Sorry about that!

I took my measurements to verify the setup. I ran it before and after. It was a considerable difference with the way it felt.

@cstover, I don't want to sound like an idiot, however, what measurements are you referring to?

@dunnnc, no worries.

I just want out to look at my brackets, and there are right at my gas tanks cover, so if I move them up, then the propane tanks cover will be sitting on them,

Don't worry about feeling like an idiot. I do that all day long. At least when I speak with my wife.

I took my trailer to a flat parking lot and unhooked. Then I took measurements of my truck directly above my front axle and directly above my rear axle. Now depending on your manufacture, they will tell you to setup your wd bars to return the front measurements to within a 1/2 in or to normal. Mine was to normal. I made sure my trailer was level from front to back. I then hitch up. The first time my ball was too low. I raised my ball up a notch. Then i hooked up and tested several different links. I found the one that worked for my setup.

Search for the instructions on the wd hitch, or hopefully someone with more experience (herk) will pop in.

I moved the propane tanks forward and slid the brackets as far forward as they would go. Now they are against a frame bracket and my chains are not perfectly vertical. The tank cover rests on top of them.
I am not going to cut the piece out and have it moved 1/2"!
The frame designers fell on their collective faces.
Oh Well...

I would move the brackets forward until the chains were vertical and notch the cover or just take it off until hooked or lift it a little until hooked. Not a major operation.

Is it possible that maybe the ball is too low? from the pics, it looks like the camper is angled downward.

Me being me, I would be doing some re-arranging on the tongue. The chains should hang straight down to be the most effective. Batteries & propane tanks can be moved around to facilitate the proper placement of the over center latches.

re

Today I spent some time making some adjustments. I moved the chain brackets up so they're straight up and down and even on both sides. (they weren't from the dealer), I did a test run and made some changes with how many links to leave remaining.

suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated:
I went to my test site with 4 links loose, made a change and only went had 1 link loose on the ride back. I tried to do my measurements but I can't find a flat surface to save my life where I live.

Can you find a parking lot somewhere that isn't busy or crowded and just play with it there?
