dcheatwood....

Nothing wrong with a gasser. Depends on your needs. This is my first diesel because I never could justify the added expense of a diesel before now (upfront cost and maintenance).

I had planned to possibly purchase a diesel when I got within 2 years of retirement. Since that time has come...I took the plunge. I expect to be camping more and taking longer distance trips when I do retire.

The V-10 in my previous truck had good towing power although not as much as a diesel from what I've been told (haven't hooked the new truck up yet to compare), but man was it thirsty. Luckily I drove it less than 5 miles a day for work. Running empty I'm getting about 5 mpg's with the diesel over the V-10, mixed - city & highway.

f1100turbo......

I'm not too picky when it comes to color. There I several that I like, but I got lucky because this color combo was at the top of my list.

I went from a 2010 ram 1500 (5.7 Hemi) to a 2010 f 250 (6.4 diesel) towing the same fiver and I didn't notice any improvement in fuel mileage. In fact, the diesel burns more fuel when not towing than the gasser. When towing, no difference. The difference is in the power and most noticeable in the hills. That being said, the gasser handled the hills fine albeit at a slower rate. You have a beautiful truck and I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the power. If I had my time back , I would have kept the gasser.

I went from a F150 to a F350. You will see better fuel mileage both with and without tt. I am getting 15 mpg city and 22 mpg on freeway unloaded and average around 13 mpg towing camper at 65mph and the tach is around 1600 rpm. it pulls so effortlessly you have to remind yourself you have a trailer attached. The Ford diesel mechanic said the other day he hasn't seen any issues with motor as long as you change oil and fuel filters. There has been some issues with the primary radiator leaking. If you look in front of the left front tire you will see the bottom of the radiator near the frame. Mine was leaking near there and was repaired under warranty. Never once regretted going to a diesel. Congrats!

Thanks guys. It's only been a little over a month and I haven't towed the tt yet, but so far I am very satisfied.

hey, hey rracer5......how ya been?

Rugged Brown....the gas engine I'm comparing to was the V-10 in my last F-250. That thing could guzzle the gas. The 5.4 V8 Triton that I had before that did a little better with the mpg's running empty than this diesel, but I'm sure it won't match up to it when hooked up.

Full timing it in Myrtle Beach for now. Probably going to go to the Jacksonville, Fl. area for the Thanksgiving holiday.
