Smile need hitch recommendations for 5th wheel

I have a 41 foot toy hauler and was set up from the dealer with a gooseneck option. Long story short, stay away from that set up. I now have a B&W Companion system and really like it. The easiest to set up and remove. Stores compactly anywhere. There is my 2 cents worth. Best of luck with what you choose.

I don't have any personal experience with a goose neck but have seen a couple of instances where a 30' and a 35' unit with goose-neck hitches flipped. Why? Not sure about one but the other was wind.

I simply don't rust them. For starters and this may be complete nonsense on my part, I could not trust a big load like our 5 ton unit on such a small amount of metal (the ball attaches to the bed with just the size/diameter of the bolt for strength and the neck of the ball where it meets the truck bed is just as small). Plus, while having the ability to move through 360 degrees horizontally seems like a good thing, having the same amount of potential movement in other directions I see as a major issue. There is nothing to restrict torque movement, (vertical roll). A regular 5'er hitch, with its top plate, has that built in. Plus regular 5th wheel hitches (where the name came from) are what makes these units so stable and safe. A goose neck hitch removes all that stability and I believe safety.

BUT..........I thought the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of a hitch was whether it can be easily removed from the truck bed???

It will handle my 15,500 pound Cedar Creek, hitch/unhitch at any angle and I can still pull 4 pins and hand my Anderson to a 5 year old granddaughter to carry into the barn.
Asking this question is like asking about tires, truck brand and diesel/gasser. We all have our opinions and enjoy the popcorn! I would not miss a day of it! We argue like siblings, but...don’t step between us.

I use a Hijacker, I have the 21k and I take it out after I’m done towing every time, it’s not terribly heavy to take out by hand. Dad takes his out by taking out the top pivot pin and takes it out in two pieces, takes him all of a minute to get his out, pretty slick actually. I have a small trucking company and on our big rigs I’m not the biggest fan of two piece jaws. They seem to wear a lot faster and get more slop than a wrap around jaw like on the hijacker. That being said I’m pulling anywhere from 110000 to 165000lbs everyday with the big trucks so I doubt life on the jaws pulling even 25000lbs would be an issue of wear. Them bw ones look good too, just not a fan of the jaws.
