I'm making some popcorn for this.
I have a diesel but it's an older one I'd never go back

These pro-gassers make me want to trade...

Some wise words spoken here.
If you ever plan to get a 5er then get a 3/4t or better.
Most 5ers crowd the capacity of a 3/4t, 4dr, 4x4, diesel with crap on it(yes you can get an ultra/super/maximum/lite/feather whatever 5er, but will that be all you want.
I have an older diesel bla bla and it has 2065 cargo and that limits the 5er you pick. Gas?? Not as much.

I will say plan for your 3rd rv as you buy your TV and be happy unless you got plenty money$$

I used to get annoyed by all the posts I read that said you need a 3/4 ton and preferably a diesel...until I got one. Did I need it for what I had (28 ft TT with one slide, 6500 lbs)? No, but it was extremely nice pulling. I do need it now with my new 5th wheel! My worry is that my truck is getting old and are the new diesels really that bad (with all the emissions stuff)? I really love my '06 Cummins, but I worry about getting a new one...

Any wisdom from the group is appropriated.
As far as gas or diesel it depends on what towing you will be doing. flat land or mountains. If your not towing a lot and not many miles than consider a gas 3/4 ton of manufacture choice with a V-8 as chevy 6.0 or Dodge 6.4 and 4:10 gear. Diesel cost a lot more than a gas ruffly $9500 more. If your going to travel excessively then go for the diesel. I tow about 6000 miles a year with my 6.0 and very happy with it. Later RJD

There are pros and cons to all the options. What's best for everyone else may not be what's best for you. Weigh all the options based upon your individual needs.

Everyone here means well but we all have differing opinions on the matter. The ONLY way you'll figure it out is to do the homework and decide for yourself.

I'm getting to the point when I see a post like, I think "set up" only posted to bring out all the "diesel vs. gas... 1/2 vs. 3/4 vs. 1 ton... Ford vs. Chevy... weight police" nut jobs and then laugh at all the illogical convictions many of us harbor.

Anyone with a computer has access to all the information about trucks you could possibly want... and why would you ask anything important on a forum?

Most people have already made up their minds, if the question is even legit, and is looking for confirmation that what they have decided, other's have as well.

There are too many varibles for anyone to know how to answer.

I had a F250 V10 gas truck for years and loved the truck. But in the mountains and such the drive was not a very pleasant experience the big V10 would roar and you really had to work at the drive experience.

When we retired and wanted a bigger trailer I wanted to look at the big three diesel trucks. But I have a unique problem my wife is hipper sensitive to diesel fumes and they will cause her to sneeze and cough.

So we decided to try out all three diesel trucks and see witch one bothered her the least or not at all. We also decided to test all of them with the AC on and in recycle mode.

The results were that we did not get out of the dealership lot with the Dodge now Ram truck, it failed very quickly.
The Chevy we drove around for 15-20 minutes before she started to sneeze.
The Ford she never sneezed and we drove it around the longest for about 30 minutes. So guess what truck we bought you got it the Ford. I know this is not a very scientific test but you know what they say about a happy wife, and we have been very happy with the truck over many miles and trips. It is a F350 dully long bed crew cab and it pulls or 40 foot 5er like a dream. Even strong cross winds have little effect on towing performance.
