Need "real world" opinions on towing..

Hi All,

I am looking at the 2015 2703WS which weighs 6311. My Yukon is rated for 7100 lbs. Is this a realistic tow option? My Yukon is the XL SLT. It does have the tow package. Now of course it pulls my 2104s with no problems, just wondering if I can move up in size?

Thanks in advance!
Susan

Looks like fully loaded you'll be over 7500lbs, which would be more than I'd want to pull with your TV. You'll probably be unhappy with performance in any kind of hills.

Trailer weight is 6311 dry which means you add 1000# of your stuff "normal user added weight"
Trailer is now 7311#
Now add dealer add on ' s
Propane tanks full of propane.
Battery.
150# + or -
Now if you carry water with you.
8# per gallon

Bigger truck or smaller camper.

I was afraid of that....I need the SUV because the dogs are in kennels, not just lose running around. I really like the open floor plan of the 2703ws dang it...

Thanks for the info!

How big are your dogs? Most of the Crew Cab 1/2 T Trucks have fold up seats in the back - that may work for your kennels.

I know I am getting picky....but I love my SUV. I can take out the back seat, load everything we need for a tournament (2 extra med size kennels, fold up table, chairs, etc.) and still have room for 4 people.

Can "helper" springs or air bags let you tow more? or is that just so the ride is better?

Try getting all you gear together and weight it. If you don't have 1000# of gear, you might be ok. As for dealer add ons, the only things are filling the propane and a battery(s) usually.

Air bags or anything of the sort will NOT increase your towing capacity.

Do you take 4 people?

Remember ANYTHING you put in the TV takes away from your payload.

I am looking at the Tahoe as a potential TV to tow my pop up. I recall that the current ones can tow over 8,000lbs with a tow package. You may want to look into the current models. The vehicle would be substantially similar to what you have so that you know it will suit all your needs.

You are not being picky...those are requirements

Take a look at the Chevy suburban or the Ford Expedition - both will tow over 9K and give you the interior room you need! Just make sure all the weights work for you - neither of these SUVs are cheap
