Need WDH for new 2015 Chevy 2500 Duramax
Got one of the first 2015 Chevy 2500 w/ Duramax on the dealer's lot. Cool truck, will make coffee, discuss your troubles, talk in 50 languages, and tell you why you are lost!!!
What I need now, I suppose, is a new Class V weight distribution hitch. Truck has 2.5" receiver......old one isn't going to fit without an adapter sleeve, and I don't think that's a good idea.
A) What's the best place to get one?
B) What's the best one out there?
C) Anyone wanna buy a barely used 2" WDH?

I used one for awhile with the adaptor sleeve. Seems to really beat it up. I corrected that problem by getting a 5th wheel.

HAHAHA. Good fix!!
With the cost of this baby, I ain't gettin' no 5th wheel anytime soon!
Looking for recommendations on best way to go on new hitch, etc. Somebody out there (here) has to have a Class V bumper pull, no??? yes???
P.S.
However........I can now safely pull any dang thing they make....or I'd BETTER be able to!!!

the wife wanted a 5th wheel for awhile. I told her we weren't getting one till I had a heavy enough tow vehicle. She bought me a 2014 1 ton Duramax last August so I had to keep good on my word

One (stupid) question. I can't see a Top View of this thing. I can see it will fit the truck receiver at that end. Can I assume that the Round Ball head will fit on it at the ball end??? If so, it'll have to be 2.5" at at the receiver end, and 2" at the ball head end, right???? Cause if I use my current Ball Head to put on this thing, and it fits a 2" shank now, then.........
See my question??? In essence, are both ends 2.5"????

looks to me like it tapers down to 2" so you can bolt on your current ball mount. Wouldn't hurt to call them to be safe.

Im using the sleeve and it works fine. Just use the GM sleeve. The pin spacing is different on the after market ones , GM will line up nice.
Nice truck by the way!

Something like this then.
2-1/2 Shank, 12 long x 4 max drop or 8 max rise : Equal-i-zer Hitch Store
Mines not on the sloppy side.

The reducer sleeve is even worse when towing a lighter empty trailer. Rattles terrible.

It is.
I have much to learn.
Just got back from 2,000 mile trip (not with trailer this time). Ticks me off that you can't go to Pilot or whatever, and get fuel with the 'big boys'. They only take Fuelman and such cards. Other stations have ONE diesel pump, and I had to stand in line with all the county worker trucks at one spot!
But it better pull the house off the foundation...........

the 2014 I stated I got last August is my first also. WOW, what a powerhouse of a tow vehicle.
You can't get fuel with the big boys? I haven't been to a truck stop yet to see

Well, I pulled into a Pilot Station in Alabama somewhere (long, dreary trip, I forget which one), and it was packed.......so I pulled around with the big trucks, around back......and one pump was open. I pulled up (I'm the ONLY four wheeler) and it was very different than normal pumps. It said "We accept Fuelman, Fleet, XYZ"........and that's it. No normal credit cards.
They also had a pump for DEF, though. Wouldn't that be nice? But no, only for the New American Cowboy (don't start me on my opinion of many of them...)

i use the adapter in my ford, and it is a little worn on the top, but no slop, as once you have the weight dist bars hooked up the upward pressure of the bars keeps the head from moving or ratteling at all....if i was pulling over 10k i might think about going to a 2.5 shank....but at this point, im using a clamp on bike hitch and it only fits the 2 inch shank.....if it aint broke then i aint messing with it....lol

I've gotten fuel numerous times in the big rig area, even with the truck only. Some stations don't have diesel in the "car" area.
You can always go inside and pay. But I've never encountered one that wouldn't take cards, there are alot of o/o out there. This might be an isolated incident station.
When I was running a semi we only payed with bank cards or cash, and all my drivers , used my business cards or cash- no fuel man here, or needed.

Great. Good info! I need to figure all this out. Headed to Colorado Tuesday, South Carolina mid April, Kentucky mid May, and St. Louis end of May! Whew.
