New B&w draw down post (on new companions)

Well I just got done installing a new turn-over ball hitch in my neighbors Ram 1500 coil spring truck (not much fun looks like a cat got holt of my arms).
- anyhow I told my neighbors that they could use my companion when I wasnt using it. Because the ram 1500 hitches have a shallower insert area in the base, b&w shipped them a new post to go on my 3000 companion.....except they shipped us a post for the new model companion that doesn't use u-bolts. So here is the new draw down post, and a few pics of the install.

Oh and it takes a" key" to latch and unlatch instead of the pull lever, dont know if this is going to be on all models or just cause rams have wheel liners that would make the levers problematic

I think that wheel liner on my '12/3500 makes the pull lever a hassle. I have to reach around/under it to pull/release the pin on the gooseneck ball.

I do like the new Companion without the u-bolts. I feel like they took the one pain in the system out and seem to have elegantly fixed it.

I agree. Id like to see and get the new one, but right now, real hard to justify with the one I have being barely used and currently no camper

MillerTime: Have you ever made public how you totaled your camper? Glad you did not follow up to get a house on the lake instead of a new camper. :-)

I think I mentioned it in other threads.
- our may storms that went thru OK with torados and hail, our trailer was at the dealer in moore when all that went on and was beat up with hail.

On houses, we found land we liked, but not houses. And after GCing and working on our own house when we built it 3 years ago im not ready to go down that road yet- especially on a house a couple hours way.
-we did find 2 seasonal parks that are on the lake we love ( and a little over a hour away, about 65-70 miles away) and that made the camper a better fit.
If the economy doesn't tank, we will probably order a new Sabre 36-QBOK in January!
My 2.5 year old son keeps asking me when I get home if I "got him a big camper".

Thanks for the update. I hope that Insurance (yours or the dealers) paid you for the total loss! You have such a lovely wife and kids and they deserve camping on the lake again.

Thank you! Yes our insurance took care of it and we came out about even (less a little interest) after insurance payout and ext. Warranty cancelation. Just took about 3 months to get it all wrapped up.

I have a camper, but can't even broach the subject of upgrading for the sale of upgrading. My wife would remind me that my 9-year old daughter loosens the u-bolts more times than not once I break them loose.

I don't know that I ever picked up on that your camper was totaled! I hope things continue well for you and that get to get your 36qb soon enough!
