when I was shopping back in April, a dodge dealership near us had 3500 SRW 4x4 crew cab cummins short bed w/ fifth wheel prep for $36,500. We passed on it and bought a Chevy 3500 SRW crew cab 4x4 LT Duramax long bed w/snow plow prep (never gonna need this here), out the door for close to $41 k (msrp of $56 k). lots of incentives and a dealer error helped out on that one. the deals are always there, you just have to look for them and then squeeze them out of the dealership.

OK... the call's been made. I'm moving money around so I can get this over with. Still waiting for the rebates to come up some... hoping there will be some Independence Day deal or shortly after. But if not... so what? Takes about a week to get the money moved, anyway...

Good luck! If you wait and all the 2014's are gone, then you get a nice new shiny 2015!

Congrats on the new truck, however it is my understanding that on the 2011 and UP F250/F350s you DO NOT have to pull the cab to work on them UNLESS it is a chassis-cab commercial setup. I did a bunch of research on that before I pulled the trigger on my F250. Nevertheless the the new Dodge trucks are a fine truck as well. Enjoy!

I would of went and picked it up for the dealer. That's what I did with my last truck. It gave me a chance to put on a 150 miles on it to see if I liked it. (I did).

I had to move some money around to cover the check... so I wasn't in as much of a hurry as the dealer... Tomorrow's the day! Going to the dentist at 9:00 and going to drop off the F-150 and write a check after that... Somehow, I should be happier about it... ...

OK... it's a done deal. Said good-bye to the F-150 today and picked up the 2500. It's different in many ways, but I like it...

Thanks... Second day of driving to work, 40 miles each way... I car pool so this happens every other week. Very happy with the fuel economy so far. I'm averaging 20.1 so far according to the computer. Of course I'll check that mathematically when I fuel her up for the first time. So far the range (miles to empty) reading keeps changing for the positive. I left for work and it said Range 383. I got to work and it said Range 381, so I have to guess it's recalculating. The instant economy meter shows pretty drastic changes between uphill and downhill runs.

I didn't get the side step bars on it. The dealer said $600- plus 2 hours shop labor to add them, and I said... Uuuhh... no. Looked on line and found some I liked for $399- shipped. Went shopping this morning and the local truck outfitter installed the same ones for $362-... and I didn't have to wait, or crawl under the truck...

See ya on the road...

Congrats on the truck! With a ride quality like they have, the 40 mile trip to work is an enjoyable experience.

Pulling Cab

I don't know where you got your research, but a commercial cab and a regular cab are identical. On the 6.0 it was difficult to remove the left head but it could be done. Hope you enjoy your new truck. Let's put this "you have to remove the cab" to work on it nonsense to rest. I have a 2003 6.0 and have bullet proofed the engine COMPLETLY with the cab on! Mine is a f550 cab and chassis with a P/U bed, DRW, Banks exhaust, gear vendors overdrive, etc, etc. Can run 65-70 towing in O/D.
Again good luck with your new truck.

I like the looks of the Rams, but don't understand why they can't lower them to better match the wheel cutouts. Look like they have been jacked up. JMO, but they are nice. My sons old 97 is the same way.

Just a question and don't want to start a range war, just get an explanation, if the trucks are so great and powerful, why do you have to "Bullet Proof" them with all sorts of mods and why would they have to take the heads off?
