I just purchased the exact truck, 2016 2500HD Duramax 3 weeks ago. I have not seen the reverse issue. I have felt a few "hard" shifts while under towing load between gears 3 & 4 and maybe 4 & 5 while downshifting.

No issues with mine. Make sure to let us know the resolution.

I will for sure. I'm getting a little more po'd by the minute as it's taken them till now to look at it. You'd think when someone brings back a truck that costs this much the same day as its purchased with a fairly major issue that it may get some priority.

I worked for one of the largest GM dealerships in the okc metro area for years, our service dept. had about 30 techs, but only 1-2 heavy line diesel and hd truck techs. If they are in the middle of a huge fuel system repair, turbo job etc, you cant expect them to drop everything else and get right in the middle of another big job. That increases the likelihood that a mistake is made on the first job.
You will get a much better job if you dont rush it.
I agree this sux for you, but you wont be any better off if you have to have it redone numerous times because they were rushed.

Good luck!

Good insight. Thanks.

They re-flashed to TCM to knock out the learned stuff, checked fluid, tried to recreate the problem. No luck, so I picked it back up. We'll see what happens.

Hang in there, you are gonna love the truck. I pull a 10000 lb 5er with my GMC Dmax and can't say enough good about it. Travel numerous short trips in Oklahoma and it almost never comes out of overdrive even when we went over the Arbuckle 's. Leaving for an East Coast trip and looking forward to the Tennessee hills and Appalachians.

So, decided a diesel was in future. Might as well do it now, while the gasser was worth more if I'm going to do it eventually anyhow.

Picked up a '16 2500 LT with the dmax. Love the truck. Empty I'm at 21mpg mixed driving, and the ride is even better than the 14 was. Really like it. Now the bad. About 40 miles into it, I parked, shut down and ran an errand. Came back out, start up, put it in reverse, I've got all indications I'm in reverse, but engine just revs. Back in drive pull forward try reverse again, it's all good. It does this three different times today. The last time, I revved it more and it jammed into gear and jumped back somewhat violently. Seems to only happen if it sits a few mins or more. Needless to say, it's day one, I'm irritated and in a loaner now. Very happy I was fortunate enough to be able to have the truck, but frustrated it had a problem right off. Also, I'm sure this will be a "could not duplicate" type thing.

Any dmax/Allison owners here ever experience anything similar? Trans fluid was full, and zero codes.
Don't know what year of 3/4 ton but newer never came with 3.73 most with 4:10 gear. Later RJD

That what I thought too. My '14 was an oddball. Per the code in glovebox, I had the 3.73. Also could tell by the RPM at 70 in 6th.

Drove some tonight. No issues. Really like the truck. I finally put my foot into a little. That's a little different than the 6.0.

I love my 2015 Duramax. 17000 miles and no warranty issues. It is an awesome tow vehicle. All Duramax pickups are 3.73 fears for 2015 and 16. Not sure on gearing for older models.
