Still not an option for 2017 either according to the build & price site, for anything other than 3.73 for the diesel. There are several "forced" options when you click the diesel option.
Here is the gear ratio rpo codes. Your GT4 is 3.73. If you look in your option area of your window sticker it will show the diesel option and it may not show the forced option of 3.73 gears, but it might.

If you read the window sticker it says standard options which includes the 6.0 gas but I bet if you read through your options on right side it should be Duramax. Ether that or you got wrong window sticker. Later RJD

Looks like I got the wrong window sticker. Indeed I have the 3.73 rear wnd. With what the Duramax is supposed to be able to tow, I shouldn't have any problem with my 7800 lb Wildcat.
Sorry we ended up hijacking this thread.

Here's a listing of RPO codes I made. Most are from a June 2016 listing I found, but at the end are some additional ones I found. Bounce these off the sticker in your glove box.

Yes the 6 speed Alison that they introduced for the '06 model has one more overdrive gear than the 5 speed Alison had since its introduction.
If i remember correctly the older duramax's made most of its torque at 1800rpm while the new one introduced for 2017 models are making torque around 1600.
The new duramax 6.6 (L5P) is making
445 hp at 2800 rpm and
910 lb-ft torque at 1600 rpm
Making it currently the highest hp diesel in the light truck market and only 15 lb-ft torque less than ford. But with the Alison putting power to the ground more efficiently than other trannys, its should be very powerful from a seat -of-pants standpoint and in towing situations.

Ace is right. Show us a pic of the right side end of the window sticker where it should show optional equipment such as the D-Max.
Wrong sticker?? Check VIN.

Not the wrong sticker, he only took a pic of one half of his sticker.
Here are both halfs of mine. It clearly shows the the gearing, engine and trans......IN THE OPTION AREA of the sticker. All the GM stickers are like this.
We now know who reads all the fine print and details about stuff they buy. Lol

Yep... that's why I suggested posting the right end. I have engine upgrades, etc., on the right end of mine.
The VIN comment was to prove he has the RIGHT sticker. Ha!

I glanced at the sticker but I knew what I bought. I had the gear wrong but I understand why the Dmax/Allison combo doesn't need the 4.10 gear but the gasser does.

I too just purchased a 2016 2500HD Duramax and made the same mistake. My sticker had an option section that added the Duramax package that deletes the 4.10 and adds the 3.73.

I really can't decide if I should scramble to find a LML in december or wait until 2018 to get an L5P and I'm not sure I want to be part of GM's test program on the l5P

I agree. I'll probably wait a year before looking at getting a 5LP, but I've only got a little over 10k on my current Dmax so i might wait a little longer.

I'd wait a year for the L5P. Not for the torque or HP numbers but because they reworked the fuel system a little. The fuel pump on the 11-16 models is a CP4 that can fail. Not really a sky is falling type problem, but it's a possibility. If under warranty no big deal, but otherwise, it's a big deal. The new trucks have a whole different system. That being said, I love my '16. It's a pleasure to drive loaded or otherwise.

I was going to wait as well but decided to buy the 2016 for 2 reasons. One, I didn't want as noted a first year engine, and two, the current torque and HP numbers are more than enough for my trailer or any future 5th wheel we would tow. If my plan was to tow a 42ft, triple axel, 17k lb 5th wheel, then I would have waited.

Be glad that you didn't wait, they seem to have a problem with the crankshafts breaking on the new ones, but they are supposed to be starting production today here at the plant.

Shouldn't that sticker have a VIN on it?
