I gave serious thought to this but backed off for one reason. The only thing smaller than our tiny 26 gallon tanks is my wife's bladder. If the truck's tank is near empty you can be damn sure her tank is just about full... So either way, I gotta pit stop...

Yea but when your draggin 32' behind its nice to just park it and not worry about pumps or waitin in line! Besides my bladders smaller then DW with the meds I take!

LOL. I hear you. I got over 40' behind me. If my next truck doesn't have a larger tank, that's going to be one of the first things I add. On this one I really wanted a Titan or TransferFlow OEM location replacement tank but they don't make one for SuperCab short bed trucks...

Thanks rooksroost...that sounds like a great option to look into. I've thought about need to stop and refuel every ~220 miles when towing because of the 26 gallon fuel tank. Don't mind stopping every couple hundred miles for a quick break...but knowing you need to stop and refuel (go in search of diesel) is another story.

You say a removable tank? Can you give me some additional details about that, and how does it transfer the fuel? I am new to this, and just getting my 2001 f250 set up!
My truck did come with what is either a 36 or 42 gal tank. I just want the additional peace of mind of not having to go find fuel!
Any help will be appreciated!

The F350 can be de-rated on the sticker to 11,400 or or 10,000 to save the end user registration fees and hassles in states where there are rate increases for higher GVWR's. The trucks are physically identical, just de-rated to save fees.

Paul, they make them a couple of ways. Ones is to have a pump that is plumbed from one tank to the other for direct transfer which can be activated in cab. The other is to have a fuel station type fuel pump attached to the in tank bed. When you want to transfer you have to pump it from the nozzle to the standerd filling location on the truck. Titan tanks also makes a tank that fits where your spare tire goes that won't take up bed space and is plumbed directly to your main tank for cab controlled transfer. It's big bucks though...

I had a feeling they did that. My 05 f250 is the exact same as an 05 f350 with regards to springs, axles, etc but rated lower. I'm fairly confident my truck has a 10k + gvwr even though sticker says 9800

That's still the case with the 250's. They are 100% identical to a SRW 350 but for two differences. The 350 comes standard with the upper rear overload springs where as the 250 only gets them if your order the camper package. The 350 also comes with 4" spacer blocks under the rear springs where as the 250 has 2". (Although many 2015 250's are now coming with the 4" blocks as well.) Other than that they are identical just rated differently to appeal to different segments of the market.

Congrats on the new truck. Please share your scale results as I have a 2014 ram 3500 srw with 4074lbs payload per door sticker and I am about ready to order a 340x12hp within two weeks. One at the show had about everything I want and it weighed in at 12400 dry...so I am keenly interested in your results and thoughts

Thanks gtsum... hitch will be installed by the RV dealer on 3/24, so should be able to get the truck on a scale within a few days after that. The 340x12 I bought notes a pin weight of 2640, and dry weight of 11600.

Good deal. The rig I saw at the show had the options I will order and the actual weight was 12400 according to the yellow rv sticker so the extra ac and patio deck etc added a good bit of weight. I am curious to see what your actual pin weight comes in at. Congrats again!

FYI - I don't know the exact date that i'll be picking up the XLR yet (purchased in Dec. and dealer is storing it), but will likely schedule the pick-up date when I'm there having the hitch installed on 3/24. Taking delivery of the XLR was dependent on the spring weather conditions...but it looking good up here right now. Likely can be de-winterized soon with no concerns of anything freezing solid.
