A 14K fiver is going to drop around 3000 pounds directly over the rear axles. Add the existing 3500 or so pounds and you likely will exceed RAWR, tire load rating, not to mention the trucks GVWR. While technically feasible according to the mfg specs, it is absolutely not practical nor a good idea.
All too true, A neighbor who has been a long time 5er has just started looking into a replacement for his 10 year old 40 footer. He has found that the manufacturers are front loading the new 5er's in order to keep from going from tandem to tri-axle.
