I used Scott's link to the calculator and it appears I am WAY over my truck's abilities. I plan to send the link to my dealer and I plan to ask him some tough questions.

Please let us know how it goes. Be very interesting to hear what they have to say when shown the numbers.

I even called Coachmen and gave them the details of my tow vehicle and they said it was designed to be pulled by a half ton.
The dealer and a Coachmen rep think you'll be okay towing a 36' 11" long camper weighing about 9000 lbs ready to camp with a 123" wheelbase SUV!

I don't know how these people can make recommendations like that and sleep at night! Good Grief!

I would try and get out of that deal if at all possible, or get a bigger truck to pull it. I tow a 28 ft trailer that weighs 7k loaded with a 08 Sequoia and I am at the wall with that. I think that will be too much tail for too small of a dog, and that's coming from someone a little better off but still truck shopping.

Wow, I see how some dealers will lie to sell anything. Most dealers when I brought them my Liberty, they were very hesitant. The tow books the dealers had didn't even list a diesel. One dealer was rude. I was looking for a hybrid or rear slide, and he gave me popup brochures.

As for the OP, good luck with your purchase. As others probably said, leave yourself a little cushion. What we want and what we should be towing are probably 2 different things.

I took some time to pull the numbers together and sent them to the dealer...

2012 Nissan Armada:
The GVW of my Armada is 5,922 lbs and the GVWR is 7,300 lbs
o The total passenger capacity on the driver’s door says 1,378 lbs
o My estimated passenger weight is 500 lbs (2 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog)
The estimated GVW of my Armada “loaded” is 6,422 lbs

The GCWR for my Armada is 15,100 lbs. If I take the GCWR (minus) GVW of my vehicle, I am left with a maximum trailer weight of 8,678. If that is the case, I am at my limit with the 320BHDS.
o Dry weight of the trailer is ~7,700 lbs
o Add ~ 1,000 lbs for propane, batteries, WDH, and gear
o ~ weight of trailer ready to camp is 8,700 lbs

Tow vehicle maximum loaded trailer weight rating = 9,000
Tow vehicle maximum tongue weight rating = 900

Seems like a risky choice...

don't forget a full tank of fuel at 6.073 lbs per gallon x 28 gallon which is another 170.044 lbs !
