There are many questions on this combo, my concern is w/air suspension how the truck react to the weight of the 5th wheel,handling ,stopping. If this truck was to pull a TT how would theWDH be adjusted to transfer weight to the front axle . this is a new system , maybe Dodge can help.

We tow our 6000+ pound Wildwood with our EcoDiesel and it pulls it with ease getting 16 mpg. But...I would never tow a 5th wheel with it because of payload concerns surrounding the very heavy pin weights. On the EcoDiesel forum there are folks towing up to 14,000 pounds (foolishly) so towing ability isn't the question. Payload is the problem.

+1. We have exactly the same setup. Same fuel mileage. Same towing satisfaction.

The EcoDiesel has the same horsepower and torque as my 1993 Chevy one-ton with 6.5 factory turbocharged Detroit diesel. (Same setup as the Military HumVee)

I can't believe that this little 3.0 can put out that much power? When I mention it to anybody, they just say "that's the new technology"

I have an EcoD with 3.55 gears, it handles my 2604WS just fine. IMO, you will run out of payload and "control" before you run out of power. My opinion is that 8500# is about all I would tow, and I wouldn't want much more than a 30' trailer. To me, the 2604 is about a perfect match.... some tow more, but I wouldn't. My trailer scaled at 6500ish and I was a couple hundred over on payload with 900# TW, generator and wife and me in truck. We have added a few more items to the trailer, so I'm guessing that I'm close to 7k with a little water on board.

OldBob has summed it up the best! Too many people, especially sales people simply look at towing capacity and not payload...OldBob is bang on!
