Traded in my TV; a Tacoma for a new Ram 1500 Sport Quad Cab with 5.7 Hemi, 8-speed torqueflight, and 3.93 rear end. Question is: the salesman and the web site say the max payload is 1504 lbs., which is kinda disappointing but still much better than the Tacoma and gets me some playing room that I didn't have before. Thing is, the sticker in the door jam says 1640 lbs. So which one should I go by? I would think the door jam sticker would be more vehicle specific.
So far I'm tickled to death with it. My Tacoma was a 2014 and was nice, but this is so much more truck it's incredible. The Ram offered way more bells and whistles than the other manufacturers for the same money. The brake controller is 'built-in', and displays the braking percentage and gain on the dash. I was fairly comfortable towing my 26' with my Tacoma. I haven't had it hitched up to this yet, but I think it will be a night-and-day difference. Heck; I might even convince the wifey to drive\tow a little
I agree go buy the door sticker, if you want the best answer call dealer and have them run vin, it will give you payload to make sure it matches door...just a suggestion don't know about the new dodges, but I have a 05 1500 and I put a set of firestone air bags on it and it made the tow ride that much better.....I use it to haul a 40 horse tractor...
