Question new t.v ?

I am looking to purchase a used 2008 Ford Expedition. The question is do you think it is a good tv to pull around my 29' puma. Dry weight is 7200 lbs and 750 lbs tounge weight. the expedition is rated for 9000 lbs towing and 900 lbs tounge. I know its on the upper limits and that is what has me nervous. if anybody has an expedition or any thoughts on this it would be GREAT!!

That dry weight is probably 8,000 Lbs or very close loaded with propane, ac and other options. I would persoanlly would not tow that with an expedition.

Consider that you will put around a thousand lbs in personal belongings into the trailer, and you are alrady at expedition's tow limit with no one and nothing else in the expedition yet. You will be over your legal limit for sure. Expedition is also not a very long tow vehicle, what is the actual length of the puma ?

People should really give up (Not directed at OP) using the empty weight to see if a TV is suitable or not. ....

the Expedition is the same as the Tahoe class of vehicles. IMHO you are asking a lot of that class vehicle for that size trailer. Look instead for a Suburban or Excursion and you wont go wrong.

My Opinion...NO. The Expedition is a nice SUV, but that is a bit much trailer for it. Especially with a dry weight of 7200, the GVWR will likely exceed the ratings of the Expy, and the "real" weight will almost certainly. Please keep looking for something a bit more.

Have to agree with the others that the Expedition seems inadequate. Another factor is the wheelbase; on the short side. Also, does it have a towing package? What about a 1/2 ton extended cab or crew cab?

I agree with the others. That is too much for the Expedition. I would look at a 3/4 ton truck or an Excursion (they aren't made any more, but used ones are around) or 3/4 ton Suburban.

A 1/2 ton truck would do it, but that weight is getting too close to the max rating for 1/2 tons to feel safe IMHO.

The trailer is too heavy for that TV; mostly because of the tongue weight.

Plan on 10-15% of the weight of the loaded trailer for the tongue. If you add only 800lbs in water, gas, supplies, clothes, etc than the trailer is 8,000lbs. At 12.5%, the tongue would be 1,000lbs, which is overweight for the TV.
