New (to me) tow vehicle
Picked up my 08 Silverado 2500 Duramax tonight. Came across a gem of a truck 48K miles in showroom condition original owner he put seats covers on everything in the interior since new and there is not a scratch on the outside of the thing. This is one nice riding truck the IFS is much smoother than the solid axle in the Ram. This is my 1st diesel I cant wait to pull with it.
Thanks to F1100 (Ron) for the information and opinion on this truck.

Beautiful truck! A word of caution though, once you hook a camper to that truck, your face will cramp due to the excessive smiling caused by pulling with a modern diesel!!!!! Nice score! Happy camping!!

I have almost the same truck, and you will not be able to wipe the grin from your face first time towing. Or the 2, or 3rd etc. Your grin will eventually fade to a smirk, but that's as cured as you will get. Sorry for the bad prognosis, but you will just have to learnto live with it. Enjoy.

Add the Allison transmission and paint that thing Stealth Gray and it is a twin of mine.
Mine has had Wetokole seat covers since the day I bought it new.
LOVE the truck and you will too. Good luck with it.

Had an o7 duramax and loved it. One note, since you are new to diesel, I would definitely add fuel treatment to EVERY tank of fuel. I have access to power service brand (get it at WalMart) it adds lubricity to the fuel. The new fuel doesn't meet manufacturers cetane or lube requirements. It's not expensive and everyone I am associated with that uses it has had good fuel system longevity. Enjoy the truck.

Opti-lube is also a good choice, of course you will get other opinions.

congrats on your new ride, first thing I would do is change out the rear diff fluid they come from the factory low, keep a eye on your rear brakes, as all 3/4 ton GM wear bad on the rotor. If you want this truck to live a longer life get a lift pump/or a inline fuel pump, your CP3 and injectors will love it. replace the trans fluid with transynd, and i would go thru the entire truck and replace the fluids, add 5w30 syn to the transfer case, not trans fluid. and as a final thing get rid of the downpipe, add a full exhaust, put a EGT probe in the right side manifold, put a Transgo in the trans and add a DSP5 switch with EFI. then enjoy 450hp or just do the fluid thing

Herk it has the Allison trans in it. Jevanb your gonna get me divorced lol. I have been down the modding road too many times I am hanging those gloves up this truck is staying STOCK. I am coming from a 400ft lbs@4000 rpm Gas motor something tells me the addtional 260 ftlbs at half the gas motors rpm is gonna be just fine. I am soo in love with this truck the ride and sound of the motor is simply amazing. I went with an 8foot bed this time around as I have the new 5'r. Figured I will use the extra bedspace. I will buy staionary legs for my hitch when I have it installed and sell the sliding base. I always do thing half assed installed the 5th wheel and towed the camper twice with it now im sellin that truck lol. To be honest I never needed to use the sliding rails I always had great cab clearance. I found the radiator grill cover for this Silverado under the rear seat still sealed in the bag. Also founf the block heater plug still wrapped up on the passenger fenderwell like its been since new guess this guy never used that stuff.
