New to Towing, need WD hitch

I'm brand new here and getting my first travel trailer. I will be Towing it with a 2007 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 with the 5.7L. I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best WD hitch to get or if I should just get whatever the dealer suggests. I'm pretty sure that I want it with sway control. I will be towing a 2017 Wildcat Maxx 24RG that weight 6100 dry.

Any thought on the Recurve?

Thanks

Equalizer 4pt hitch or better, better being the propride or hensley arrow but those are 5 times the cost.

You need to check into the Husky Centerline TS. Has to be the best bang for the buck out there. My buddy had a entry level Reese with additional anti sway and his 35ft Sport trek wagged all over. He switched to the new Husky and it was amazing. No need for extra sway control. It's all built into the head. They have 3 or 4 different levels based on weight. He went one level up just in case he upgrades to a heavier unit down the road. He found it on Amazon.

My trailer should have a dry hitch weight of 663, so a 600-800 range should be good I suppose?

I'm always hearing good things about the Equal-i-zer.

I have a Fastway E2:

e2 hitch

Very good bang for the buck - very similar to the Equalizer, but about 1/2 the cost. I've been very happy with it.

Figure out the loaded tongue weight. If closer to 800 then it may be a good idea to go to the next unit up. That's what my buddy did and his truck tows like a dream. I like to side on the level of more sway control then less. Also gives you room to upgrade down the road.

His was easy to set up and it just works great and you can't beat the price. The entire setup is powder coated and looks quality.

Equal-I-zer brand 4 pt hitch worked great for us! Check RVW in Ohio for best price, and free shipping!

Enjoy the new TT.

As others are sold on theirs, I'm sold on Blue Ox SwayPro. Easy install, easy adjustment, easy hookup, no separate sway bar needed, and should you move to a heavier/lighter trailer, only the bars need to be switched.

ID:	139843 Just took our first trip over the Memorial Day weekend. I know I was towing at my upper end of the weight limits. I probably was close to 10K. Did a 400 mile round trip drive with the dealer installed Equilizer WDH rated at 12K#. Ride felt really solid with no sway. I didn't push past 65mph. The truck felt good towing. I have a 2010 Crewmax 5.7. The only thing I'm contemplating adding is a set of airbags and of course I found out how bad my gas milage could be towing (which I expected with a gas engine) but glad the truck worked out. I just need to figure out the perfect settings for the Tekonsha 3 brake controller. Hope everything works out.

Yup. Mine has a toungue weight closer to 900#. Has a dry weight of 6,251#...add my Kawasaki Teryx 1,700#, water, fuel station fuel and all the camping supplies, generator....yes riding heavy. They suggested the 1200/12,000lb. Equilizer hitch.

Agree with the Blue Ox - easy, easy , easy. But a bit heavy putting on and off - for me. Bought a small 4 wheel dolly for $8 at harbor freight- wheeled it to position and lifted from there
Used it on 2 different trailers first a 20 ft Passport then on a 32 ft Surveyor Both held tight didn't know they were behind me. On highways trucks did not affect the trailers. Pulled both with a 2007 Tundra Limited ext cab 5.7L. I was sold 1000 lbs bars thinking I would get a larger trailer - good advice I did and used the same WD system. Would buy Blue Ox again - but every one has different experiences and opinions

Started with trekker and switched to the equalizer hitch after we traded campers. The trekker had slight fish tailing where as the equalizer is rock steady while pulling at speed. I did get sway bracket jackets cause the hitch is loud. Zero noise after that addition.

X2.....I've had good luck with the E2. It's made by Equalizer.
There are a lot of happy people with Equalizer on this forum as well.

Up here, Equal-i-zer is about $750, e2 is about $400...

Either way - I'm still happy with the price and performance...

Tmoz78- try Sumosprings. SUPER easy install and no maintenance. I'm running close to 1k tongue weight also. Doesn't make it perfect level but it is a world of difference on rough roads.

Thank you will definately look into them.

As for the Equilizer hitch I have, I do know its not the least expensive but I was fortunate enough to negotiate as a freeby when I bought my Stealth.

Just for information
The E2 is made in China.
The 4pt Equal-i-zer is American made.
