New Toad?
Greetings all, I'm a newbe at toads. I'm looking for a new daily around town driver that we can hook up all four down and pull with our 3010ds Sunseeker a few time a year. My wife likes the 2016 Jeep Patriot.
I believe it around 3,200 lbs? anyone out there pull a Patriot with a class C? if so what type of Tow bar, base plate, braking system would you suggest?
Any tips and or tricks would help me decide where to go with this idea.

I just bought a car strictly to tow 4 down but that's all it will be used for. I wanted something light 2,00lbs range, inexpensive, one owner low mileage. I got a 2012 Smart for2 with 7600 miles on it for less than $8,000. I got it set up with all Blue Ox including stone guard. I'll be making my first trip next week and see how we handle without an aux brake.

We purchased a Fiat 500 standard shift and at around 1500 lbs it is easy to tow, shift out of gear and take off emergency brake and go. My wife loves to drive it around town

I know the Jeep Patriot is a little heavy, but we are not full timers yet and we will only use it a few times a year as a toad and we travel with others and the grand kids most of the time. I was just wondering if anyone pulls a Patriot or similar SUV with a 32' class C.

We normally tow our Ford Focus (right at 4,000 lbs.) and have gone through the Rocky Mountains with no trouble whatsoever. We do, on occasion, tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee (6,800 lbs.) when we travel areas that have a more level terrain and have had no issues. We use the Roadmaster Falcon towbar and have the Invisi-Brake on the Focus and use a Brake Buddy for the Jeep. Definitely prefer the Invisi-Brake.

Check the classified section on the IRV2 forums. They have a seperate section for toads, most of which are ready to go, a lot come with brake systems.
Just a thought.

I tow a Honda CR-V which I believe is around 3,200 lbs as well and the Sunseeker runs fine. You do know its back there a little bit, mostly when going from a standing start or up a uphill entrance ramp. But for the most part it just follows right along. I have to keep checking my rear view camera to make sure it is still there.
I tried a dolly last year and hated it. Switched to flat tow and hope to never go back to a dolly.
