New tow vehicle
I just bought a 2013 f150 Ecoboost crew 4x4 back in sept and just took delivery of Solaire. Can't wait to see how it pulls the 26BHDSK.
Old rig was a 06 f150 2WD and 298 Springdale.
I pulled the old TT to trade in and empty new trailer home from the dealer with just me in the truck. It felt loose and all over the lane. I hope it's better when it's loaded. I have a sway bar. Tires on truck are at 40psi just as normal. So I don't know why the issue.
Any thoughts...

Camper- Same Truck, get some LT rated tires. Problem solved. I am running them at 55 psi. Don't need 80 psi with the load, I have 20 inch wheels.

Thanks but there's no money in the budget for new tires. I may increase the pressure and see if it's better

what kind of tires are on the truck? 10 ply 8 ply 6 ply? max pressure? if the max pressure is 80 as on a 10 ply tire load range e then you should be around 70 psi while your loaded or at 80 psi but if they are 10 ply and your at 40 psi then I could see this feeling!

before you go off looking for tire solutions, make sure your hitch is adjusted right....never trust the dealer...load up the trailer and get it weighed and set up from there......

X2 on this. Check your wdh, measure your wheel wells with and without the tt hooked up. See where you are. Weighing is even better. If you weigh it, you want your front axle as close to unloaded weight as possible without going heavier. What size bars are you running? Also with a 32 ft tt you really should have a wdh with integrated sway control. Sway bar is for under 26' typically. When you load the tt, aim for 13-15% of loaded tt weight for your tongue weight. If this doesn't fix you, then look at tires. The ecoboost is a capable truck, this will get better.

Thanks, I'll have to adjust the ball height for the diff in 2wd and 4wd and go from there. This trailer has a heavy toung weight at 955lb dry (16%), so I need to load it to the back. The tires are P245 (p rated?) but can't change the right now.
I'll weigh at next outing

A quick note about tires. My stock tires could take 44 psi as maximum pressure. This did help with some sway and control. Check the manufacturers website for max pressure.
On the sway issue I had a 32 ft bumper pull and with factory sway the TT and TV just danced with the least amount of wind. Going to a 5er same tires we had a less due to the new trailer but the truck still wandered around with the P series tires. OC will be a good source for information as well.

Again tires or not if the hitch isnt adjusted properly it will tow horrible...I pulled my cousins 28ft jayco using his hitch/settings and it was down right scary...pourpoising with every bump and ungodly suck and push sway with every truck that passed..luckily it was only for a few miles...
My trailer as set up from the dealer towed nearly as bad...after completely disassembling the hitch and starting over it tows amazingly (I also have bags, which make it even nicer and dont blind people with my 55w bizenon projector headlights)

op statement "It felt loose and all over the lane. I hope it's better when it's loaded. I have a sway bar. Tires on truck are at 40psi just as normal. So I don't know why the issue. "
where you are right on the hitch settings.....what i was getting at is a 10 ply tire which is a load range E tire has a max psi of 80 psi so if you were running them at 40 psi it will have a crap ton of flex in the side wall and feel like it is all over the place.

Oh for sure 40 psi is way
Too low on an E...even unloaded. ..he is running p tho....my point was regardless of tire poor hitch/wdh bar setup will render an otherwise adequate tv unsafe..
Hell 40 psi is unsafe unloaded on an e tire imho

I'm going to have to go against the 40psi is too low and unsafe unloaded. I have always ran 10ply tires aka load range E on my 1/2 tons and unloaded I had to run 35-40psi all the time for tread wear purposes. ALWAYS as soon as I loaded I upped the pressure to 70-80psi. Jmho though.

I dont know off the top of my head the axle weights a 1/2 ton would have...but even then it may be low based on manufacture recommended psi's....

Truck tIre says max is 44psi. I run 36 unloaded and pump them up to 40psi when towing.

That sounds right and I know tires are not in the budget right now but when they are make sure to get load range E tires and you will notice a huge difference

New tow vehicle
I noticed my trailer towed better with it loaded with our stuff in it vs towing it home empty. Your experience might vary.

After adjusting the hitch, I'll have to take the scenic route to get some hwy driving to the local campground before we take off on a long trip to FL this summer

Got the ball height adjusted and pumped up the tires to 42psi (max is 44) for a trip back to the dealer for warranty work. I'll see how it tows.

Ok... And wow!... What a difference. The truck and trailer feel like one. I never thought 1.5 " lower on the ball and full psi on the tires could make such an impact. Now I know we made the right choices in the new TV and TT.
Oh and the Ecobeast rocks!
