When we moved from a Coleman popup (vehind minivan) to our Surveyor hybrid (behind SUV) we went straight to the Equal-i-zer. But the standard shank that came with it was not enough drop for our Mountaineer, which has the integrated receivers pretty high there. I did a lot of searching for a longer-drop shank, and ended up at etrailer (as usual!):
Curt Weight Distribution Shank - 15,000 lbs Curt Accessories and Parts 17120

I would recommend:
1. Try what you already have. You may find that you already have enough drop. If not,
2. By this new shank from etrailer (assuming it has enough drop for you). But again, use it with the equipment you already have. Your 3/4-ton is only going to be more stable, so you might be happy with just the upgraded shank. If not,
3. Get the Equal-i-zer. If you TW could hit 950lbs (?), get the 1200lbs system. Otherwise, the 1000lbs system will work.

I've heard a lot of good stuff from etrailer customers. Check out They seem to come up cheaper most of the time and everything I've ordered has come in 2 days, even the multiple boxes of a 5th wheel hitch on a pallet delivered by tractor trailer.
