New Tow Vehicle - Ecoboost!

The wait is over. We finally found an F150 ecoboost equipped the way we want.

The power from the EB and overall ride quality is very impressive.

I can't wait for our next campout and the opportunity to hook up the tt.

Ended up trading in the 2004 Titan and a 5 year old base model mustang.

Congrats! That is a sweet truck. We took one for a test drive and were very impressed. I think we may be trading the old Dodge in on one next spring.

If you decide to pick up one of these trucks you should be very pleased. The power from the little 3.5 L v6 is pretty amazing - we call it the Eco-Beast.

We could not pass up on the deal -- got x-plan price + $4k in incentives and a very favorable trade in for both vehicles. It was too good to pass up for the price.

The truck will meet our needs nicely.

Just got back from our first trip with our Ecoboost pulling our TT. You will not regret the purchase, I could hardly feel the TT and pulling up hills was effortless (ok, it was in Oklahoma so what hills? right?lol) The only thing is you have to drive VERY conservatively to reach the mileage estimates, those twin turbos will kick in easy and gulp the gas, but I still love it. We bought ours in March and have not been disappointed. I was a lifelong GM customer. The F150 and the Ecoboost have converted me! We have no trouble pulling our XLR 27HFS.

Just back from a great two weeks in BC. Swimming in lakes in Canada towards the end of september, has got us wondering if we get get one more trip in before the deep freeze starts this year.

congrats! i want an eco boost really bad but im stuck with my 07 with the 4.6 v-8 atm. I test drove one and wow did it put me in the seat!

Wondering if you did the fender measurements or some weigh-ins with your WDH setup ?? You truck looks like it might be sagging in back......or course, that might be because of the load in the bed....can't tell what that is.

Nice! That's the color I would probably end up getting. The dark browns are sweet looking too. I heard the 2013 will be the redesign so I'll probably wait until late next year to start looking at them seriously.

For those that have the Ecoboost what is your towing and non-towing MPG?

Yes your are right the rear end of the truck is a little low. I set up the WDH with not quite the same load in the bed as we had on this trip. Plus we had 4 adults in the cab plus 2 kids, so it was a full load.

I think that I do however need to go up one adjustment on the ball height, and tilt the ball slightly to get more tension on the bars.

As for the towing milage about 19.5 l/100km so far, we I am pleased with. Although about 15 l/100km when not towing which is not so good.

What do you guys think of the colour ? I must admit that it is a bit bright for my taste but the wife loves it. I would have preferred a darker red, but there simply wasn't the availability when we needed to purchase.

Man, I just hate that metric crap! It is simply totally backwards.
Using that number, you can go 100 km, or 62 miles, on 19.5 litres, or 4.3 Canadian gallons. So who can picture what that means?
But, say that you are getting 14.4 miles per gallon, and everyone can picture that in their heads.
By the way, that is pretty good, as my friend with his EcoBeast only gets about 10 mpg pulling his 6400 lb fifth wheel.
And I have heard of no one who is getting the high advertised highway mileage when not towing.
Still pretty amazing that a pissy little motor like that can pull that hard. What if they made a 5-liter EcoBeast? Or a 6-liter? I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

Ford EB 4x4 model (not XTR) hauls the Salem 27RKSS without issue. My only problem and maybe its me is that I don't know if I have my Reese Dual cam system done up correctly.

BTW -- Only 220 miles on the EcoBEAST so cannot tow just yet. I'll pick'er up from the storage lot in a few weeks and see how she pulls. We may take a run up a 65 MPH road (C470 West Bound from S. Santa Fe to I70 for those in Colorado). That'll provide a good seat of the pants comparison to the Titan.

THE EB Ford will work gr8 for you. Mine hauls the 27 RKSS Salem getting between 10 and 12 miles per gallon depending on grade of gas and or wind.

Metric system change in 1976 meant smaller packaging and bigger prices. I measure lumber in feet and inches, gas in gallons not litres, and distance in miles.

then again many Canadians will answer the question of how far is it from here to Toronto with 12 hours...

I love red vehicles. My 2000 F150 and my 1976 F100 were both bright red. I would really like a maroon F150 for my next truck, but that color is never available when I buy a new truck If maroon isn't available when I buy I will get the red or brown.
