new tv??

does anybody have any suggestions on which is better... a 2011 dodge diesel or a 2011 gmc diesel? I have a 2007 f-250 diesel and am looking to replace it with one of the above. Does either come with the intergrated brake controller like my ford does??? Thanks for any info!!

Either will pull just fine. It all depends on whether the Urea injection required by Ford and GM is a big deal to you or not. Best is to go out and drive all of them and decide for yourself which is best. And yes, they all offer a brake controller now.

Which color is better? Red or blue? Both have pros and cons to them. I love the interior of the GMC 10x more. But I love the Dodge I have has the factory standard engine brake that I use all the time. I would also recommend a dual climate control, it's amazing.

I am partial to Dodge - which do have the intergrated brake controller but have heard mixed reviews on good they are though.
Pro's and con's to both sides
Dodge's are more expensive then GM's - seems you can get more truck with GM then Dodge
Cummins are great engine's but not so sure on the 6.7L - if it was the 5.9L 24 valve they are very reliable and strong

GM - Allison Tranny's are one of the best around - not sure on the engine's though

Like stated above - drive them and see which feel's comfortable to you - I bet the Dodge interior will stand out - if I could afford one I would be trading mine in for one but I can't so I keep what I got

Good luck with whichever choice you go with - I would think either choice will do the job.

I can't really speak for the 2011 Dodge, but I do have a 2011 Silverado with the Duramax and Allison tranny. I am very happy with it. Plenty of power, integrated trailer brake (which works great), and it also has the factory exhaust brake that is unbelievable. This is my 3rd Duramax and have had great service from them.

We just returned from a 1600 mile trip pulling our 5er and loved every minute of it.

My experience with either Ford or Chevy deisel engines are in ambulance configurations both with the van front end.... Chevy duramax is a much better engine than the Ford in this configuration, both are loaded at about 13,000 lbs gross, the Chevy has a lot more power, the engine is much quieter. The Fords are 2007 - 2009, the Chevy's are 2009 and 2010. Shop time for the Fords have been terrible, the Chevy with 60,000 miles has only been to the repair shop once, and that was associated with the ambulance configuration, not the engine.

My truck is a Dodge 2011 Cummins 6.7, 6 speed manual 2500, in my opinion pulling my trailer (similar gross weight) the Dodge has more power than the Chevy, and still is as quiet or better than the Chevy. With this note that I am not bagging on the Chevy as I think it is a good truck. However, I am glad that I purchased the Dodge. I personally think the straight 6 cylinder deisel engine is better designed than any of it's V8 competitors. I also like the manual transmission, yes the Chevy offers a manual overide on the automatic transmission, but having driven both, I don't like the manual overide. I would rather have the full manual transmission.

All of the newer deisels have been squashed by EPA emission standards, but the 2011 Dodge does not require the exhaust fuel as the 2011 Chevy does.

Bottom line may be price for you, but I purchased my Dodge for $36,800 off the dealers lot. I am not sure you can do that with either Chevy or Ford similarly equipped. Locally the Dodge I purchased was around $8000 higher.

Shop around. You can't go wrong with either the Dodge or Chevy.

Flyrotor is right about price. My Silverado was $44,000 after dealing.....the sticker was a little over 50,000. Let us know what you decide. Curious minds want to know.

I would suggest checking various brand specific truck forums for more info on theses units. Take anything you read in magazines with a grain of salt and then make an educated decision. Not sure why you have not included the new 6.7 PS Ford as it is a monster but you obviously have your reasons, the same as I would never own another Dodge even if they paid me to take it.

I think they're all on a fairly level playing field. They all have their pro's and cons. Read truck forums but sift through the B.S. carefully. (trust me, I belong to most of them) Most people go on them to either talk about modifications or to complain about problems. One person has a problem (usually self inflicted by a modification gone wrong) then all the sudden there's a national epidemic.....not a real factual indication of reliability IMO. Test them all and buy the one that fits you and your wallet.
