We are loving the new truck! It was a huge jump for us! We had (well still have for a few months) a 1997 Ford F-150 that we were towing with. It's still a nice truck even at almost 20 years old but it's getting up there in mileage now and we wanted something with more capacity and the new safety equipment.

We now have a 2015 Silverado 1500 V8 with lots of built in stuff our F150 just doesn't have. We're feeling pretty fancy right now!

Our V10 2000 F250 owners manual says nothing other than vary speed during first 1000 miles, no special break in instructions. Nothing listed in the towing section either about mileage limitations. We picked ours up just south of Atlanta (old 75 Ford took a dump) drove it about 60 miles to get a topper installed and headed north to the Smokey Mountains with TT in tow. 96,000 miles later and drivetrain related issues. In fact, other than routine maintenance only repairs have been an emissions sensor under warranty and new A/C receiver dryer.

The Owner’s Guide for our 2010 Ford E450 with a V10 says extensive break-in is not necessary, but to vary speeds for the first 1000 miles. However, it also recommends not towing for the first 1000 miles.
Can someone explain to me the difference between towing with a V10-equipped pickup or van, and normal driving with a V10-equipped 12,000 pound motorhome? It appears to me that all those Class C’s and Class A’s with V10’s were driven with a load from the first day, and very few have engine problems. I would guess that most were not driven very gently during their delivery from the manufacturer to the dealer.

I have towed trailers for 35 years just about everywhere I've worked. I never had any issues pulling from the get go. It's more how you drive than anything else. My trucks always had high mileage when I sold them and very few trips to the shop outside of normal maintenance and I've never had to replace any major drivetrain components.

So, we are at almost 5,000 miles on the new truck and we still haven't towed with it yet! Soon though as we are leaving this campground on the 12th.

I have a buyer lined up for our old truck so we will be down to just one TV on 2/4. It will be sad to see our old truck go. He's almost 20 years old and still rides like a dream! My dad will be giving him a nice home.

We just need to move our brake controller to the new truck. Well, figure out if it's compatible with the new truck and then move it.

500 Mile break in period for my new Ram 3500. No towing. No cruise.
