I currently own a F150 EB that I tow a 7500 (dry) 29 foot fifth wheel trailer with; it does just great.
If I was needing another truck, I'd get the Chevy ONLY IF I lived/towed at sea level. However, since I tow over 12,000 ft AGL I cannot afford to lose 36% horsepower with the normally aspirated Chevy at those altitudes. All 3 tow vehicles in our home, a diesel jeep Grand Cherokee (7200 lb tow ratigng) A diesel Jeep Liberty (5000lb tow rating) and our F150 EB have turbos that deliver full horsepower and torque over 10,000 feet ASL.

We bought the F150 instead of the Chevy because it has so much more room in the back. We've been very happy. Gas mileage not as great as they say but plenty of power for towing with the max towing package and the platinum edition had all the bells and whistles. We've always been Chevy people but extremely impressed with the Ford and glad we bought it.

I bought a new 2014 GMC 1500 CC Z71 4x4 about a year and a half ago and six months after that we bought a new 2015 LaCrosse 329 with a dry weight of 8700 pounds. It was a total case of the tail wagging the dog. Even with two friction bars and the tires at max pressure it never felt stable. Traded it in on a 2014 Ram 2500 with the Cummins and it is a totally different experience. Unless it is a very windy day one friction bar is fine and I only use the spring bars for longer trips when we are loaded heavy. The Ram does ride a little stiffer than the 1500 GMC but the capability is so much more (2000 pounds in the back of the GMC and it was really sagging and 4000 pounds of cast iron in the back of the Ram and no big deal). Buy more truck than you think you need to start with and save a lot of pain and money.

Anything but a Ford or Dodge. GM's don't need a larger fuel tank.

OldCoot, really? At least justify your statement. Every brand has had their issues but to make blanket statements like that is silly. I'm not brand loyal and buy what I think is the best option. Please share what your issues where with the other two brands assuming you owned them.
With regard to fuel tank size. I have a 36 gallon fuel tank in my F150 EB and I wish I had an extra 10 gallons. My favorite boondock camping spot is 245 miles from home and since it is uphill most of the way (including going over a 12,127 foot pass) we get 7.3 mpg (11mpg on way back) and our tank size requires us to top off to have an adequate reserve
Is the EB perfect? Nope, but it is a decent vehicle that has great power. Fuel economy sucks while towing and doesn't match sticker on window when not towing but it is good enough for me.
Not all of us have a spare 10-12 grand lying around to get a diesel. I'm fortunate that my fifth wheel pin weight is 950 lbs dry and about 1250 lbs wet (less when I put 30 gallons of gas and my generator in the back of the camper) and my F150 tows it fairly well.
Like I said earlier, if I was at sea level, I'd get a GM/Chevy. Less complexity is better in my book and twin turbos on the EB means increased complexity and more stuff to eventually break in the future ;-)

Ram still has free CUMMINS.
That put my 3500 close to the same price as a 1500.

When I take a step back, I'm sometimes amused at how irrational I can be.
When I shopped tow vehicles, I refused to even look at a Mopar product. I had had a Sebring convertible and my wife had a Concorde sedan. Both were very disappointing in terms of quality of build and reliability. In hindsight, trucks are completely different and my comparison to cars wasn't logical.
In the end I ended up with my F-150, which I like a lot.

this is a common inaccurate statement from gas truck owners. First, it's about a $8k option before any incentives. What did you pay for your Ecoboost? When I bought my 2014 Chevy 3500 Duramax CCLB 4x4 new for $47K, most of the 1/2 tons would have cost about the same, with 1/3 the payload and 1/2 the towing capacity.

I just checked the Edmunds pricing for the 2015 F-150.
In the Lariat SuperCrew version, the MSRP of the 3.5L V-6 Ecoboost is $400 more than the MSRP of the 5.0L V-8........

Not everybody buys new. A year or 2 old half ton will be thousands and thousands less than a 1 or 2 year old one ton diesel. Can find them around 27k vs 40 for a diesel.

your right, but the OPs questions was about a new truck, so need to compare apples to apples. Besides, diesels have always had better resale value, whether it's 1 year old or 15, it's always worth more.

The OP's post was also about 2 non diesel trucks as well.
In case you missed it, he made his choice already too...

I'll work hard to keep that GVWR down so I don't get arrested by the weight police!

For the price of a new half ton , you might as well buy a 3/4 or a one ton. 45 grand for a grocery hauler .
