Great deals to be had on ram 1500 vs silverado/Sierra 1500. We are towing a mini lite 2109. GVWR 4700. Any comments from experience.

This all depends on what trucks your looking at from each. The ram hemi would pull that camper like a champ. Or the Chevy with the 6.2 would do the same. Or you may want the Chevy with 5.3 and it would do ok. What exactly do you want?

Our chevy pulls our Roo 25rs just fine, 5.3, 3.42 gear, TT alittle over 5,000... maybe would get the 3.73 gear if plan on driving mountains...haven't tried that yet. either one would be good if you get the right set-up.

Thanks. We have a Colorado now that power wise pulls ok, but it's kind of like the tail wagging the dog. We do only have an WD hitch so will be adding sway control as well to whatever we buy.

Depends how much you tow verse how much you drive solo. If you tow a lot far always go a little bigger motor and rear end it never hurts except going to gas station. GOOD sway control is always important especially in smaller trailers. They still are tall and wide to catch lots of wind and semi wake but don't have weight to help it. Strongly recommend Reese dual cam sway control if your current weight distribution is compatable (amazon or etrailer) or equalizer (rv wholesaler) if hitch is not compatable. I think sway control is single most important thing to get you there safe and enjoy your trip instead of being worn out from driving.

We've got that exact same combination. 2109s with a 2010 Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 with the Hemi. It's got the towing package with all the added cooling and 3.92 gears. Don't even consider the truck unless it had the 3.92's. Those gears actually up your tow rating some so that tells you what Dodge thinks of those gears. The gas mileage isn't the best while towing but that holds true for most any gas truck pulling that weight. We get about 9-10 mpg down from the 18 it usually gets. Plenty of power though.

I concur with GearHd6. I have a 2011 Ram 1500 CC with the Hemi only with 3.55 rearend and tow a 26TBSS wildwood. Wish I had the 3.92 rear but, it still tows like a champ. On a recent trip to the Tennessee Mtns went up a couple of very steep grades (8 and 6). Only temp that got warmer than I would like is the oil. I run Amsoil so really no big deal. I am however in the proccess of adding an oil cooler so this will not happen again. It has all the other coolers so no problem there.
I love my Dodge trucks as this is the 5th full size that I have owned. The quality gets better every year. Go with the Ram!

I have the 2104S and 2013 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi, tow package, 3,92 rear end and i add the intergrated trailer brake. It has no issue pulling the TT with power to spare. As already stated i get 8 - 10 mpg towing around Texas

Either of those trucks will pull that trailer with no problem.

2013 Silverados are really being discounted because of the new 2014 design. We recently bought a 2013 Silverado 1500 Texas Edition and got $13K off sticker between negotiating and all of the rebates they were offering.

Love the truck. Towing a 7,500 gross Rockwood TT.
