New used tow vehicle

I just picked up a 2006 salem 27 with. Dry weight of 6900, does anyone know if I can get by with a 2010 ram 1500 hemi crew cab or should I be looking for a 2500? I can't get an accurate answer

I'd go for the 2500, you're going to be pushing 8,000 + by the time you get all the extra junk in there. JMHO
Before you buy any new truck, find out exactly how much it can pull/carry. Others can give you more exact numbers.

W/o knowing all the #'s, I can only offer my opinion. I'm a fan of the 80% rule. If you are using 80% or more of any of your 1500's weight ratings, then I'd bump it up to a 2500 if it was me.

In the case of my Roo, which is hardly a heavy trailer at 6K lbs loaded, I went to a scale and determined I was over my F150's rear axle weight by 200lbs when I was fully loaded with kids, wife, bikes, wood, water, etc. So now I own a 2500.

This is as close as I can get you to the right numbers:

http://www.rambodybuilder.com/2010/d...ammlup1500.pdf

2010 Ram 1500. You'll need to follow the link for which kind of Crew Cab you have, 4x4 or 4x2 and with or without rambox.

After that, you look it up by tire, engine, transmission and axle ratio.

My 2010 1500 Crew, 4x4, rambox, 5.7 hemi with 3.55 gears on 20" rims puts my total towing at 8300. My TT dry is 5700 (or so). I feel I'm within my limits on total tow capacity, but probably over on payload. My max payload is only 1280. I take up between 500-600 of that just with DW, kids, dogs and car seats, meaning I need to keep the tongue weight under 700 or so.

The one I have my eye on is a 2010 crew cab with the trx package. It also has the 3.91 gears in it.

Yeah, the guide doesn't say anything about the TRX package. What it asks is:

- 140.5" WB 4x2
- 140.5" WB 4x4
- 140.5" WB 4x2 With RamBox
- 140.5" WB 4x4 With RamBox
