New WDH

Buying a new WDH. I had trunnion bars on my last one. Is there a difference or advantage of a trunnion bar or round bar. Round bars appear to cost less.

IMO, especially with Reese products, the round bars seem to work best with lighter trailers with the coupler on top of the tongue frame, and the square (trunnion) bars seem to work best for heavier trailers with the coupler on the bottom of the tongue frame.

Here is a picture a the same trailer I will be towing. The coupler is on top, so round bars would be a better choice?

Probably, but that is just my opinion. In using the square bars on that type of setup, you need to really tilt the head assembly back pretty far. On my setup using the Dual Cams, there was rub problem between the spring bars and the dual cam attachment bolt, so I had to use 7 links to get around that.

With the round bar setup, the spring bars come out of the bottom of the head assembly, the head is assembly is not tilted as severely (or maybe even tilted forward), and there is no rub problem because the bars are lower and parallel to the tongue frame.
