My family are real newbies to RVing. (Haven't gone on the maiden voyage yet !) My wife and I purchased a used, 2005 Keystone Springdale. Empty trailer weight is approx. 5850 lbs. My current truck is a 2012 RAM 1500 4WD Quad cab with the 4.7 V-8. I think this truck is right on the edge of being able to pull this trailer safely. I'm thinking of a 2015 RAM 1500 Crew Cab, 4WD, with the 5.7L V-8. I need something that is good for everyday driving as well as pulling the trailer 6 or so times a year. Any thoughts on if this truck choice would be sufficient ?

Empty weight means nothing o trailer.

What is the gvwr, Trailers max weight with cargo?

Hitch weight on camper?
Truck specs?

Gather your specs for your truck and trailer.
then weight your truck and trailer
To find actual weights then help can be had.

My first camper was a Keystone Springdale, I pulled it with a 1500 Silverado, camper weighed 5000lbs. I pulled for awhile and then I traded for a 2500 Silverado, the 1500 did ok but pulling camper up mountains the 2500 was better. I got the best fuel mileage with the 1500 pulling camper.
