Hello together

I bought a Rockwood 2888ws.

And as i said, we will pull it just 3-4 weeks / year.

I know, the Nissan will be on his limits. But the fuel consumption of a Dodge Ram 1500 (in Europe we can get it with a 3.0l Diesel V6 engine). is double the amount from the Nissan...

Also the size of the Dodge is for European parking lots to big...

Insurance and road taxes are also much expensiver.

I hope you dont missunderstand me, i would like to drie a Dodge Ram 1500, but with the Nissan i could save more money.

You are in the 2500HD range for that 5'ver by the time you get it loaded.

Here is a link to your 5'ver: Rockwood Ultra Lite 2888WS - Ultra Lite Fifth Wheels Travel Trailers / Fifth Wheels by Forest River RV

That is the exact layout of my 5'ver, but yours has more stuff than mine.

My 5'ver is 9500-pounds loaded, and that is after shedding some weight by removing the couch and not carrying a bunch of garbage in the basement.

And I would never ever attempt to haul it with a 1/2-ton truck, let alone a smaller Frontier.

Not even for just a trip around the block...or only 3-4 weeks per year, as you want to do.

If you are going to tow that 5'ver...you are going to need a bigger truck.

Re Fifthwheel

Scamp trailers makes a 19' fifth wheel I think I forgot about. The mount is on their website and probably trailer specific because I see it has a 2'' ball sticking up on the frame of it.These get good reports for frontier, tacoma size trucks but they weigh 4000# or less.I cannot fathom a regular fithwheel behind these trucks and I own one.I thought that was what they were looking for not a 28' footer.

Hello JohnD10 and old hunter

Thank you very much for your informations

After reading all forums, checking the weights and thinking again i will not buy a Nissan Frontier!

But i think the Dodge Ram 1500 can pull this 5er (Rockwood 288ws) for 3-4 weeks a year.

I will look for a 3.0l V6 Diesel.

Thank you guys and have a save travel on your trips.

I am taking delivery of my new Surveyor on Tuesday..weather permitting. I am hoping my Frontier is up to the task of pulling it. I weighed the truck and it came to 4975 pounds on the CAT scales, leaving about 500lbs before I am at GVWR.
With tongue weight, I will be at max very easily.
We shall see.

The Navara in Europe has a payload of 2237 lbs so yes it can tow a Fifth Wheel. Has more payload than a Ram 1550 or Standard F 150 approaching a F 150 HD version. Michaijl is certainly legal with his 2888 WS Rockwood and the Nissan Navara.

Never say never, it can be done and is legal!

I pulled my Micro-Lite 19fd which I believe is lighter than a Surveyor around Utah, Wyoming and Colorado with a 2007 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. It was barely ok on the flats but I'm sure if it had the 5-speed auto (I had the 6-speed manual) I would have toasted the transmission in the mountains. A year of that was more than enough. Replaced it with an F150.

And thanks to hangdiver for the real world experience, I will give it a try and if it doesn't work out, I will upgrade to a Ram/Silverado/F150.
