Nissan Titan, just added tranny cooler

Installed mishimoto trans cooler today unit comes with electric fan. Don't be misled by the name, this company is in New Castle DE. Anyway very happy with this cooler, I chose to install in addition to factory cooler, so this is mounted as the last cooler before oil returns to Transmition. Posting since I only learned of these recently ( with fans on them that is ) and wanted to share...Click image for larger version

I wired a toggle switch. Figured I'll likely only need to use while towing. And I also thought it would be nice to let it run for a few minutes after shutting truck down after towing and or on hot days, just to allow some distribution of air over hot engine. It's my understanding that A thermostatically controlled the system is available but I elected for the manual system, for these reasons above.

I researched this product a bit after you posted, it seems like great idea. I have only towed with my truck once and I am not sure if I will need more cooling, but if I do I'm getting this product for sure

Hi Jgourlie. I did transmissions for 31 years. You will not know if you need a cooler unless you have a trans temp gauge, your friendly neigbourhood trans repair shop suggests it during the overhaul, or the engine starts to overheat because the engine radiator can't disipate the engine and transmission heat. Add the cooler now and save yourself the grief. Transmission parts last longer at 150įF than at engine temp (195įF), even though engines prefer 195.
